Influence of some soil parameters on humic substances properties from forest soils Humic substances have important function in soil processes and are significant factors determining the soil components circulation and its morphology. We report the studies on humus in some forest profiles, developed from sandy parent material and possessing different chemical properties. Humic substances were characterised according Ponomarieva method. The relations between some soil properties and humus concentration were tested. The correlation coefficients between sorption capacity, degree of soil saturation complex with basic soil cations and organic carbon concentration were positive and showed dependence between them.

The paper presents the results of the investigation which aimed at the comparative analysis of the sleeted elements content (Fe, Mn, Zn, Pb, Cd, Cu, Ni, Cr) and magnetic susceptibility of soils of the „Smolnik" forest reserve. Durnig the study, the following soil types were taken into account peaty -muck, mineral muck, gleypodzolic soils, subtypes muck soils and specific ones. High amount of particular heavy metals (Pb, Cd) stated in the upper layers of the forest litter indicated thier anthropogenic origin. This was comfirmed by the measurement of magnetic susceptibility of the particular genetic horizons. The essential correlation among Pb, Cd, Cu content and magnetic susceptibility was noted.
