The paper presents a methodology for estimating reserves of available groundwater resources for use, inter alia, for the purpose of fracturing unconventional gas reservoirs. The assessment is based on the balance ofgroundwater available resources and water abstraction with the amount allowed by water intakes permits. The balance included a variant of the assessment of reserves of groundwater available resources under conditions of several years of drought, i.e. guaranteed resources. Estimation of reserves of groundwater resources was applied to water-management regions and to smaller units - the balance catchments, designated in the regions in order to determine the available surface water resources. The reserve of groundwater resourcesfor established and guaranteed resources was estimatedfor the selected water-management region - the Wietcisa river catchment. This catchment is part of the Stara Kiszewa concession for the exploration and exploitation of shale gas resources in the Lower Paleozoic Baltic Basin, northern Poland.

The performance of an irreversible heat pump for simultaneous cooling and heating applications, for which irreversibilities results from both the finite size and finite rate of heat conduction, as well as compression and expansion, is studied. The relation between optimum system coefficient of performance and optimal rate of combined cooling and heating output has been established. Also relations for optimal cold and hot fluid temperatures have been derived and performance of irreversible heat pump has been discussed. The optimal correlations have been simplified for endoreversible cycle and compared with the relation for only cooling or hearting in the literature. Consequently, optimal relations for heat conductance inventory, residence time and mass distribution between the heat exchangers have been established.

Wraz z przeprowadzaniem coraz bardziej rozbudowanych akcji militarnych (zwłaszcza przez USA) narodziły się nowe metody logistycznego zabezpieczenia działania wojsk. Wynika stąd potrzeba określenia miejsca zapasów materiałowych zgromadzonych w systemie logistycznym wojska, jak również sprecyzowania ich miejsca i zadań, jakie mają do wypełnienia w strukturze rezerw państwowych.

Together with the conducting of the more and more developed military actions (especially by USA) new methods of logistic prevence of army's acions were implemented. As a result a need apeared of establishment of the material reserves' place assembled in the logistic system of the army and precising its place and functions which have to be fulfilled in the state reserves' structure.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza wyników uzyskanych z przeprowadzonej oceny niezawodnościowej podsystemów dostawy wody dla miasta Jarosławia. Zebrany materiał z badań terenowych pozwolił na wyznaczenie niezawodności źródła wody i niektórych elementów badanego systemu. Losowe zdarzenia w źródle wody obejmowały wysoką mętność wody, zjawiska śryżowo-lodowe. Wyznaczono globalny wskaźnik niezawodności. Przeprowadzona ocena dwuparametryczna potwierdziła niespełnienie przez badany podsystem warunku K[w] [większe bądź równe] K[s].

The objective of this work is to analyze results obtained from the reliability assessment of the water supply subsystem for the Jarosław town (a town on south Poland). Material collected during field investigations made it possible to determine the reliability of a water source and some elements of the system under investigation. Random events in the water source included high turbidity and slush ice phenomena. The global reliability index was determined. Two-parametric analysis confirmed not meeting the condition K[w] [greater-than or equal to] K[s] (PsDoW) by the investigated subsystem.
