W artykule przeanalizowano trzy kluczowe aspekty automatyzacji, robotyzacji i autonomizacji (ARA) systemów uzbrojenia oraz podkreślono, że kwestie te należy rozważać wspólnie ze względu na ich wzajemne powiązania. Jako pierwszy aspekt przeanalizowano wyzwania techniczne współczesnej robotyki. Wskazano podstawowe bariery w tej dziedzinie, których wyeliminowanie jest konieczne, by stała się ona użyteczna dla sił zbrojnych. Drugi aspekt analizy dotyczył znaczenia ARA dla możliwej rewolucji, a z pewnością ewolucji prowadzenia konfliktów zbrojnych. Rozważania skoncentrowano zwłaszcza na przypuszczeniu, że głównym wyzwaniem staje się coraz większa dostępność różnorodnych tanich urządzeń, które niedużym kosztem i bez dostępu do najnowszych technologii można zmieniać w użyteczne na polu bitwy roboty, również autonomiczne. Trzeci aspekt analizy ujmuje proces ARA w kontekście prawa wojennego. Przytoczono podstawowe idee międzynarodowych rozważań nad regulacjami śmiercionośnych systemów autonomicznych (LAWS).

The article analyses three key aspects of the process of the automatization, robotization and autonomization (ARA) of the armed conflicts. The paper indicates that those aspects must be taken into consideration simultaneously. Firstly, the article describes the fundamental technological barriers of modern robotics. Only when we will move further in the field of those technologies, the military autonomous robotics are going to be genuinely beneficial. Secondly, the ARA process is being analyzed from the point of view of its military usefulness. Growing availability of the cheap consumer grade robots and open-source software giving them autonomy seems to be the fundamental challenge in planning for the future of warfare. Third, the ARA process is placed in a wider context of the law of armed conflict. First of all, the plans to regulate lethal autonomous weapon systems (LAWS) are taken into account.

The beginning of nineties of XX century brought - except for decisive change in geopolitical evaluation - a lot of new elements in the range of the theory of using power, waging war and, first of all, making use of the achievements of technology for military purposes. In theoreticians’ considerations, a concept of “revolution in military affairs” appeared (RMA). This article is devoted to the issue. Independently, if we judge the changes revolutionary or evolutionary, the theoreticians - according to the author - are agreeable that RMA comprises three levels: technological which integrates technical and computer science achievements; doctrinal and operational comprising new combat techniques; organizational leading to fundamental changes in the range of civil and military relationships (Revolution in Business Affairs). The author says that the process of information managing is to get the dominance in modern battlefield.
