Wdrażanie zasad zrównoważonego rozwoju w budownictwie w aspekcie środowiskowym, ukazuje wagę i znaczenie ochrony zabytków, jako obiektów dziedzictwa kulturowego, nierzadko światowego lub narodowego. Dotyczy to zarówno działań czysto konserwatorskich, odnoszących się do konstrukcji, formy i bryły budynku (łącznie z jego zabytkowym wystrojem), jak i szerszego spektrum działań wynikających z właściwie rozumianej definicji rewitalizacji. Specyfika budynków zabytkowych, a także omawiane w artykule zagadnienia, takie jak: różnorodność robót budowlano-konserwatorskich i problemy związane z ich realizacją, konieczność zabezpieczenie stanu bezpieczeństwa konstrukcji i użytkowania budynku oraz ciągłej jego diagnostyki i monitoringu, lokalizacja i otoczenie zabytkowych obiektów budowlanych, recykling materiałów i odpadów z budynków zabytkowych, konieczność użycia w konserwacji materiałów i produktów budowlanych stosowanych oryginalnie, rewitalizacja jako narzędzie ochrony dziedzictwa kulturowego i rozwoju turystyki, wpływają na zagadnienia logistyczne tego procesu.

The implementation of the principles of a sustainable development in building in the environmental aspect presents the significance of protecting monuments as the objects of national or worldwide cultural heritage. It refers to maintenance actions, related to the construction of the form and shape of a building (including its historic décor), and also a wider range of actions resulting from a properly understood definition of revitalization. Logistical concerns of this process are influenced by the specific character of historic buildings as well as the issues discussed in this article such as: the variety of building and maintenance works and the problems connected with their realization, the necessity of protecting the safety of the construction and utilization of a building and also its continuous monitoring and diagnostics, the location and surroundings of monuments, the recycling of materials and construction waste of historic buildings, the necessity of applying the originally used materials and products in the maintenance process, revitalization as a mean of protecting the cultural heritage and the development of tourism.
