Celem pracy jest analiza i ilościowa ocena zmian, jakie nastąpiły w polskim hutnictwie żelaza i stali w wyniku przeprowadzonych działań restrukturyzacyjnych oraz ich wpływu na obecny stan sektora stalowego i jego wizerunek na arenie międzynarodowej. Analizą objęto trzy obszary działań restrukturyzacyjnych związanych z restrukturyzacją techniczno-technologiczną, restrukturyzacją proekologiczną i restrukturyzacją zatrudnienia. Dokonano porównania stanu polskiego hutnictwa z hutnictwem europejskim i światowym. W pracy zaprezentowano również rozmiary pomocy publicznej udzielonej polskiemu hutnictwu oraz efekty tej pomocy. Badaniem objęte zostały lata 1992^2002.

The aim of the work was an analysis and evaluation of changes which took place in Polish iron and steel industry as a result of conducted restructuring activities as well as their influence on the current state of steel sector and its overall picture on the international arena. In the study three areas of restructuring activities were presented: technical-technological restructuring, employment restructuring and pro-ecological restructuring. Information about European and the world steel industry was used for comparative analysis. The amount of state aid granted to Polish iron and steel industry was also presented. The thesis concerns the process of restructuring the iron and steel industry in Poland during the period of 1992^2002.

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie stanu techniczno-technologicznego polskiego hutnictwa po jedenastu latach restrukturyzacji. Analiza dotyczyła zmian, jakie zaszły - na skutek prowadzonej restrukturyzacji techniczno-technologicznej - w procesie wielkopiecowym, procesach wytwarzania stali oraz procesie ciągłego odlewania stali w latach 1992 - 2002. Przedstawiono założenia programów restrukturyzacji oraz efekty ich realizacji, które wpłynęły na stan techniczny polskiego hutnictwa. Analizie poddano: zmiany zdolności produkcyjnych, produkcję, zużycie oraz jakość wyrobów hutniczych, a także stan techniczny krajowego hutnictwa na podstawie koncernu Polskie Huty Stali S.A. (obecnie Mittal Steel Poland). Analizy prowadzono na tle hutnictwa światowego i europejskiego.

The aim of this work was presenting the technical and technological condition of Polish steel industry after the period of eleven years when the first restructuring programme was realized. The analysis refered to the changes that took place in the blast-furnace process, steelmaking processes and the continuous casting process in 1992 through 2002. The propositions and results of the restructuring programme have been performed, which influenced the state of technical progress in the Polish steel industry. The analysis refered to: the changes in capacities, the production, the apparent consumption and the quality of metallurgical goods as well as the technical condition of Polish steel industry based of the concern Polish steelworks s. c. - Polskie Huty Stali SA (currently Ispat-Polish steel - Ispat Polska Stal). The analysis were conducted against the background of world-wide and European steel industry.
