Transformatory żywiczne, dzięki swoim zaletom w odniesieniu do transformatorów olejowych, znalazły szerokie zastosowanie jako transformatory do falowników, pieców indukcyjnych lub elektrowni wiatrowych. Transformatory suche można konfigurować z myślą o ekstremalnych warunkach pracy (np. skrajnych temperaturach). W większości przypadków doskonale sprawdzają się jednak wykonania standardowe, które pracują np. w halach produkcyjnych czy centrach handlowych. Ważnym aspektem są na pewno ciche działanie i redukcja wibracji rdzenia. Najczęstsze awarie, jakim ulegają transformatory żywiczne, to zwarcia zwojowe rozwijające się w zwarcia między dyskami. Zwarcia te zaliczamy do zwarć katastrofalnych.

Resin transformers have been widely used as transformers for inverters, induction furnaces or wind turbines due to their advantages relating to oil transformers. Dry transformers can be configured for extreme operating conditions (eg extreme temperatures). However, standard versions which work, for example, in production halls or shopping centers are perfect choise in most cases. An important aspect is definitely quiet operation and reduction of core vibration. The most frequent failure that resin transformers undergo is the shorting of the coils developing in the short-circuit between the discs. These faults are classified as catastrophic short-circuits.

W artykule tym zebrano podstawowe informacje dotyczące konstrukcji transformatorów żywicznych i ich zalet w stosunku do transformatorów olejowych. Zwrócono uwagę na odpowiedni dobór transformatora ze względu na warunki, w jakich będzie on pracował, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem aspektów poprawnego określania jego parametrów podczas zamawiania. Opisano, w jaki sposób eksploatować transformatory poprawnie nie prowadząc do znacznego ograniczenia czasu użytkowania ani do awarii.

The population of dry type transformers (including cast resin transformers) is not so big as that of oil immersed distribution transformers. Additionally, with regard to some aspects they are more sensitive than oil immersed transformers. This paper deals with basic information concerning the design and construction of cast resin transformers. Some benefits of cast resin transformers which make the usage of them more advantageous than the oil transformers are presented. It is also described how to assess the conformity of the design with regard to environmental and thermal behaviour. High attention is paid to the proper specifying of expected parameters during issuing inquiries or ordering and what may be the consequences of mistakes or omissions in specifications. As the transformer should operate during many years it is also mentioned how to use the cast resin transformers in a proper way. There are described some typical mistakes and misuses of cast resin transformers, which leads to shortening of the lifespan or even to a break down and damage.
