This article depicts insights and in-depth presentation of a new tool, specifically designed for Data Center resources monitoring purpose. It enables physical and virtual resources monitoring and is capable of performing advanced analysis on the resulting, measured data. Here in presented are exemplary scenarios conducted over the proprietary Data Center unit, delivering specific information on the behavior of the analyzed environment. Presented results create a base layer for a high level resiliency analysis of telecommunication services.

The purpose of this study was to establish the relation between resiliency and the level of positive changes, comprising posttraumatic growth in a group of firefighters experiencing job-related traumatic events and the mediating role of stress appraisal in this relation. The study was performed on a group of 100 firefighters from firefighting and rescue brigades, out of which 75 admitted to experiencing a traumatic event. Firefighters covered by the study were on average 31.51 years old (SD = 6.34). A Polish version of Posttraumatic Growth Inventory, the Resiliency Assessment Scale and Stress Appraisal Questionnaire were used in the study. The results have shown that 22.7% of firefighters displayed low, 58.6% average and 18.7% high intensity of positive changes resulting from a traumatic event. Resiliency poorly correlates with posttraumatic growth expressed in changes in self-perception, and strongly correlates with stress appraisal, negatively correlates with threat and harm/loss and positively correlates with challenge. Appraisal of stress as a threat and challenge appeared to be mediators of the relationship between resiliency and posttraumatic growth.

In the present study, a low-formaldehyde based hydrophobic cum crease resistant finishing of woven silk fabric was developed with a comparison of three commercially available cross-linkers (i.e., Knittex RCT®, Fixapret ECO® and Reaknitt EC®). The treatment parameters of cross-liker types and their concentrations were investigated in relation to the crease recovery angle (CRA), contact angle, tensile strength and air permeability of the silk fabric. The highest CRA of 265° was observed for the Reaknitt EC® treated silk fabric and for the untreated silk fabric it was 165°. The contact angle generally increased with increasing of the cross-liker concentration; and amongst the all the cross-linkers considered, Fixapret ECO® treated fabric exhibited the highest contact angle of 134.59°, whereas that of untreated was zero. The finishing additionally improved the air permeability of treated silk fabric with fair whiteness. The treated silk fabrics, however, showed a loss in tensile strength with an increase in concentration for all three types of cross-linkers. Scanning electron microscopy showed the impregnation of the finish into the treated silk fabric.

Opracowano antygnieceniową preparację tkanin jedwabnych z niewielkim udziałem formaledehydu oraz trzech komercyjnych preparatów sieciujących. Stężenie tych preparatów badano biorąc pod uwagę uzyskiwany kąt odprężalności, wytrzymałość na zrywanie i przepuszczalność powietrza preparowanych tkanin. Najlepsze wyniki uzyskano w postaci kąta odprążalności 265° w przeciwieństwie do kąta nieobrabianych tkanin o wartości 165°. Kąt zwilżania zasadniczo wzrastał ze zwiększeniem stężenia środków sieciujących. Największy uzyskany kąt zwilżania wynosił 134,59°, podczas gdy kąt zwilżania tkanin nieobrabianych wynosił zero. Wykańczanie dodatkowo polepszało przepuszczalność powietrza obrabianych tkanin, przy jednocześnie dobrej bieli. Jednakże, obrabiane tkaniny jedwabne wykazywały zmniejszoną wytrzymałość wraz ze wzrostem stężenia środków sieciujących dla wszystkich przeprowadzonych prób.

Content available remote Simulation of a rapid nip pressure strike and its effect on press felt samples

Special technical textiles are used in papermaking to support, transfer, and dewater the paper web. These textiles, paper machine cloths, have many essential functions connected to their position on the paper or board machine. Mechanical wet pressing uses press felts, whose porosity and resiliency are important for effective dewatering. Water is squeezed out by two overlapping paper machine rolls, which form a nip. After squeezing, the porous felt should be void and return to its original thickness to ensure efficient dewatering. Friction forces are also present at the nip, since abrasive interfaces occur between the cloths and the rolls by pressure, heat, and movement. Thus in time, the harsh papermaking process wears out the press felt, deteriorating its quality. At high machine speed, defects in press felts, rolls, or other parts of the nip environment can cause runnability problems such as noisy run, that is, vibration in the pressing section, decreasing paper quality and output capacity. This study sought for a new way to simulate the ambiguous nip phenomenon on laboratory scale and to find out a way to predict this noisy run problem. A dynamic test method, the Hopkinson Split Bar, was used to define the ease with which strike energy passed through from the upper roll to the lower roll and the damping of strikes by new and worn felt samples. In our study, the elasticity of the press felt was strongly linked with the ageing time. Decreased elasticity lets a nip impulse more easily through the press felt.
