Content available remote Military logistics as a research field of management and quality sciences
EN
The scope of cognition of military logistics encompasses a wide variety of problems, among which priority is given to issues relating to the management and achieved quality of logistics processes. Over the past several decades, this issue has received a lot of attention, and the result of ongoing, interdisciplinary research is a significant body of international and domestic publications. Their careful analysis makes it possible to identify the key research fields of military logistics, which are the main subject of cognition within the framework of ongoing scientific research. Moreover, that the scope of the publications issued, and the scientific problems addressed in them, were in the past, and still invariably remain in close correlation to the socio-military-economic situation. The aim of the article is identification and assessment of the scope of contemporary cognition of military logistics in the area of management and quality sciences and bibliometric analysis of the phenomenon in question. The research problem taken up for solution was specified in the following form: what priority directions of scientific research dominate the development of military logistics in the area of management and quality sciences? A number of theoretical methods were used in the material, among which the leading ones were analysis and synthesis, abstraction and inference. The article identifies connections, similarities and differences between the studied constructs, and formulates conclusions for further research using advanced methods of bibliometric analysis, i.e. the method of research profiling and methods that analyse the connections between publications.

Podjęty do rozwiązania problem badawczy został sprecyzowany w następującej postaci: jakie priorytetowe kierunki badań naukowych dominują w rozwoju logistyki wojskowej w obszarze nauk o zarządzaniu i jakości?

Purpose: The purpose of this article was to identify current development directions and potential research gaps in project management. Design/methodology/approach: The method of systematic review of articles published in the Elsevier - Science Direct database in the years 2000-2019 was used, where the search phrase was “project management” and the type of articles was “research articles”. In order to answer the research questions posed, an additional method of analysis and criticism of the literature was used. Findings: The following conclusions were drawn from the analysis of the articles: a) almost a third of them concerned the practical application of PM issues in one clearly defined sector of the economy, with the most common reference being to the building sector and IS/IT, b) most articles were created in English-speaking countries (47%), c) the largest number of articles concerned the area of human resource (HR) management, including many subjects of qualifications and leadership, d) of the ten areas of knowledge specified in PMBoK, “HR” and “scheduling/time” were the most popular, followed by risk-related issues. Practical implications: The findings of this article would contribute to building a strong and coherent theory and identify best practices in project management. Originality/value: The most important achievement is the recognition of two areas of knowledge - lean management and game theory - where little research has been done so far, and whose solutions and methods could be successfully implemented inside PM.

A. Hibszer, E. Szkurłat (2018).

Landscape is an important research category in geography, and it has also been part of school geography lessons for many years. We have recently observed a clear increase in researcher interest in cultural landscape in Poland, as confirmed by numerous scientific studies. Given the importance and timeliness of this issue, cultural landscape should occupy an equally important place in school geography lessons. This article attempts to determine whether this is the case. A detailed analysis of educational documents setting out the objectives and content for geography and natural science lessons after the 2017 reform was carried out. This allowed us to assess how cultural landscape is positioned in school education and which trends and research approaches are included. The article is polemical in nature, presenting different and more critical views on the state of landscape education in Poland than, for example, A. Hibszer and E. Szkurłat (2018).

This study reveals significant and emergent research topics in the field ‘engineering, mechanical’ through bibliometric analysis of articles indexed in Web of Science (WoS) from 1997 to 2016. Publications under consideration (219,191 articles) were examined using quantitative and qualitative methods to evaluate general information about publications; evolution of research topics by keyword analysis; performance of countries, research centers and journals; and international collaborations. There was a threefold increase in number of articles throughout the period. The publications were related to 35 WoS categories; and mechanics and thermodynamics were dominating ones. International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer was the leading journal in the field. The USA and China were outstanding countries of the field. Collaboration between these countries corresponded to 6.57% of all collaborative publications. Industrialized and developing countries dominated research activities in the field. Indian Institute of Technology was the leading research center due to number of publications. The results showed that heat transfer, finite element method, friction, wear, simulation, and fatigue are important topics of the field. There is an upward trend in research related to nanofluids, microchannel, phase change materials, and carbon nanotubes.

Development trends (Research Trends) in scientific research on the methods of Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) and Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) in agriculture are analyzed. Established bibliometric techniques are applied. MCDA/MCDM methods are being very intensively developed in recent years, as evidenced by the number of scientific papers published annually in renowned scientific journals indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database. In the years 1979-2015 a total of 1,355 scientific articles were collected in the database. The number of articles published annually increased rapidly after 2005. Besides, the annual number of citations of the publications is increasing. Research on MCDA/MCDM is conducted in many research areas. In the years 1984-2015 the Web of Science database accumulated 27 scientific publications on MCDA/MCDM in agriculture area. Therefore, it can be concluded that the MCDA/MCDM issues are currently not sufficiently analyzed in relation to agriculture. In the future this subject will probably be further developed, an increasing number of scientists will conduct research on the MCDA/MCDM and the annual number of articles published in the field will increase.

The concept of Industry 4.0 associated with the increasing digitization of the entire production system is often described as the fourth industrial revolution. The fourth wave assumes a progressive digitization of the value chain in the industry and the development of the networks of contractors, machines, objects, processes and systems that exchange information immediately. These new realities, determine the need to adapt and enhance the qualifications of workers in industrial enterprises. It is natural to ask about the set of competences that will be significant from the perspective of the transition towards Industry 4.0. General purpose of this article is to try to answer this question. In the first part of the article the concept of Industry 4.0 is briefly described. Special attention was paid to the analysis of the network of thematic areas, in which the publications related to this topic are presented. The final part of the article deals with an analysis of the set of competences that will be needed while working in the realities of the fourth industrial revolution.

Purpose: The evaluation of heat propagation effectiveness through passive solar modules of different construction in relation to selected process conditions by means of computer simulation. Design/methodology/approach: The analysis of heat transfer through laminar structures in transient states by means of FEM and its verification on small scale models during laboratory tests. Findings: The paper presents the application of FEM and its methodology of computations for the established conditions on both sides of laminar structures specific for solar passive-thermal modules. The results are compared to small scale experimental results. The verification of the analysis leads from particular conclusions concerning the procedure of simulations towards general comments on the application of real modules. Research limitations/implications: The research has been carried out by means of software suitable for field analysis with some limitations to 3D which have been specified but their influence on usefulness of results is only minor. The verification on a small scale model is necessary and reliable in terms of the research consistence. Practical implications: Finite Element Method exploited in the applied methodology of investigation can be successfully used as a tool to examine energy transfer at considerations on different laminar structures. The subject of the research, i.e. solar passive modules confirmed their usefulness for energy demand reduction but with some identified restrictions. Originality/value: The use of small scale solar modules to verify FEM analysis and the combination of both analyses to determine the applicability of modules in real conditions of solar energy conversion in different building objects.

Content available remote A Vision into Medium-Long Term Research in Wireless Communications
EN
This paper summarises the 1st NEWCOM++ Vision Book. In it, the community of NEWCOM++ researchers, shaped under the common ground of a mainly academic network of excellence, has tried to distil their scientific wisdom into a number of areas characterised by the common denominator of wireless communications, by identifying the medium-long term research tendencies/problems, describing the tools to face them and providing a relatively large number of references for the interested reader. The identified areas and the researchers involved in their redaction reflect the intersection of the major topics in wireless communications with those that are deeply investi gated in NEWCOM++. They are preceded by an original description of the main trends in user/society needs and the degree of fulfil ment that ongoing and future wireless communications standards will more likely help achieving.
