Purpose: the main purpose of the article is to compare Polish and Chinese mine rescue services. It tries to bring closer the organization of mine rescue in Poland and in China and constitutes a development of the research work of the author's article entitled "Motivation to work in rescue services of young mining staff" (Hetmańczyk, 2017, pp. 19-24), indicating the main factors motivating young mining staff to work in the rescue services. Design/methodology/approach: theses presented in the article have been verified using: literature review, critical literature analysis, document research and comparative analysis. Findings: based on content of this article, it will be highlighted the need to seek new solutions to increase the efficiency of mine rescue. In the opinion of experts and practitioners in the area of security, the next "jump" may lead to the intensifying of preventive measures aimed at human beings, mainly focused on making changes in the consciousness of mining crews. In practice, this would mean including within the scope of preventive measures, those which have a major impact on the skills, motivation, and attitude to issues related to safe operation. Finally, the mine rescue system, through prevention and training, will strengthen safe mining practices. Originality/value: the article enriches knowledge and develops discussion in the area of mine rescue. Thanks to the knowledge presented in the article, it can be concluded that role and the rank of mining rescue lies not only in the dimension of tasks that it has to perform, but also importantly in the dimension of new challenges that determine the need to constantly adapt mining rescue to dynamically changing organizational and technical conditions, both underground and on the surface of mine sites.

Celem artykułu jest próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy polskie obszary morskie są wystarczająco chronione przed zagrożeniami i zanieczyszczeniami środowiska morskiego. Jako zasadniczą metodę badań umożliwiającą odpowiedź na to pytanie wykorzystano indukcję, formułując uogólnienia naukowo-badawcze na podstawie przeanalizowanego materiału. Pod uwagę wzięto wyniki dotychczasowych badań, dane statystyczne, a także sprawozdania z akcji zwalczania zagrożeń. Morze Bałtyckie jest akwenem intensywnego ruchu żeglugowego, mają więc na nim miejsce liczne zdarzenia prowadzące do zanieczyszczenia jego środowiska. Służby państw nadbałtyckich, w tym Polski, dysponują infrastrukturą umożliwiającą ograniczenie skutków takich wypadków, jednak dotychczasowe doświadczenia wskazują, że skuteczność zwalczania większych zagrożeń jest ograniczona. Aby podnieść efektywność działań w Polsce, planuje się wprowadzenie do służby kolejnej specjalistycznej jednostki do zwalczania zagrożeń dla środowiska morskiego.

The article is an attempt to answer the questions whether the Polish marine environment is sufficiently protected against hazards and environmental pollution. The basic methodology applied in the study is induction based on the studied material considered the most productive, by formulating scientific research generalisations, in answering the question. The study analysed results of research conducted up to date, statistical data and reports on counteracting hazards. The Baltic Sea is a water basin with heavy shipping traffic. Thus, incidents take place that lead to environmental pollution. Relevant services of Baltic States, including Poland, ensure infrastructure limiting the consequences of such incidents. However, experience up to date indicates that the effectiveness of their action in the case of bigger threats is limited. In order to improve effective operations, Poland is planning to introduce .a specialised service unit for combating marine environmental hazards

Rescue services activity should be based on the fast and wide access to information in order to make the rescue operation. The goal of the article is introduction of the logistics information system in the London Operation Centre. The main attention is paid to information and communication technologies improving activity of rescue units in England.

This article describes extend ideas of projecting hybrid decision support system in context of enterprise resource planning for the Fire Service. In this article make a new assumption, terms and concept for projecting platform thanks to this basic functional specification was extended. Authors in this paper also propose uniform solution consist in connection two complementary systems i.e. the decision support system and multimedia training system.

Autor opisuje zasady organizacji aplikacyjnych ćwiczeń przeciwpowodziowych "Wielka Woda 2010", jakie przeprowadzono w woj. dolnośląskim w lutym 2010 r., gdzie głównym organizatorem była Komenda Wojewódzka Państwowej Straży Pożarnej we Wrocławiu. Nawiązuje przy tym do doświadczeń w organizacji podobnych szkoleń przez KW PSP, starając się udowodnić ich przydatność w realnych działaniach ratowniczych, szczególnie w kontekście akcji przeciwpowodziowej prowadzonej na Dolnym Śląsku w maju/czerwcu 2010 r.

Point of this article is the organization of the application exercises "Wielka Woda 2010" (High Water 2010), that took place in February 2010. It shows, how important is to practice this kind of way and how the conclusions can help to organize rescue actions in real situation. The example is flood-rescue operation during May/June flood at Lower Silesia region.
