Po przedstawieniu krótkiej historii powołania Instytutu Badań Jądrowych (IBJ) i jego działalności do końca lat 70-tych w artykule podano informacje o protestach załogi IBJ bezpośrednio po wprowadzeniu stanu wojennego (13 grudnia 1981 r.) i w latach 1982-1983. Podano liczne przykłady represjonowania pracowników instytutu: internowania, zwalniania z pracy, przesłuchania, kary finansowe. Opisano przyczyny, przebieg i konsekwencje przekształcenia IBJ w trzy instytuty. W artykule powołano się na źródła (raporty i publikacje) wydane odpowiednio w roku 1983, 1992, 2008.

Short history of the establishing of the Institute of Nuclear Research (INR) and its activity up to 1980 year was described. Then at the article more detailed information about the protests of INR personnel from the beginning of the martial law till end of year 1983 is presented. Examples and figures concerning different forms of reprisals (prisons, dismisses, financial penalties) used toward INR workers were given in the article. The article describes course and the consequences of destruction of INR designed to dispose of the socially and politically active part of the Poland’s major research institute personnel.

The article outlines the history of the publishing house Przedświt, operating illegally outside the scope of censorship (in the so-called second circulation) in the years 1982–1989. The publishing house oriented at the publishing of valuable books – not only those that could not appear legally – was a peculiar phenomenon on the map of underground printing and publishing. A special distinction of Przedświt were also artistic covers, designed by well-known graphic artists. The article covers both issues related to activities of underground publishing houses or repression by the authorities of Popular Republic of Poland, as well as short biographical entries of employees and associates, and a list of books published by the publishing house with a short summary of each. The content of the article for the most part is based on spoken sources – memories of people involved in publishing.
