Purpose: The objective of the work is to develop and implement the original concept of Repository of Didactic Processes Data (RDPD) for universities. The task of the Repository is to handle formally organised content in a digital form, covering resources created in connection with didactic processes, and the origin of which is a university community. These data should be: as complete as possible, available on the Internet at any time and easy to find and retrieve, stored in commonly used formats, contain a clear indication of the stored resources, without any costs for the user downloading them. Design/methodology/approach: The concept of the Repository was developed on the basis of the results of consultations with the academic community - its primary target audience. Comments from the representatives of the Repository future main users were taken into account. An analysis of the existing available repository systems in terms of their functionality, adaptability to the specificity of data, and popularity was carried out in order to select the solution that could be the foundation for RDPD. Then, the following tasks were undertaken in the environment of the selected system: adapting the data schema developed for RDPD, the implementation of the operations of loading, browsing, and searching of data, and user management. Findings: As a result of research and analyses, DSpace was proposed as the basis for the RDPD system. The logical metadata layers as well as the technical implementation of the proposed Repository in the DSpace system were elaborated. Practical implications: The implementation of the RDPD system may significantly facilitate and support the university management process. Originality/value: There are many initiatives regarding institutional repositories within the higher education sector. However, there is no institutional repository dedicated strictly to the storage and management of data generated by university educational processes. The developed repository is the solution to the problem.

The paper describes the architecture of an integrated distributed information system, which allows to preserve the result of the intellectual activity of Kazakhstan Engineering Technological University and a number of research institutes, located in the Academgorodok of Almaty, Kazakhstan. A description of the implementation of information system subsystems is presented.

Artykuł opisuje architekturę zintegrowanego rozproszonego systemu informatycznego, który pozwala zachować wyniki działalności Kazachskiego Uniwersytetu Techniczno-Technologicznego oraz szeregu instytutów badawczych, zlokalizowanych w Kampusie Almaty w Kazachstanie. Przedstawiono opis wdrożenia podsystemów systemu informacyjnego.

Jednym z parametrów oceny jednostek naukowych jest działalność badawcza pracowników naukowych. Jest ona udostępniania w formie publikacji naukowych, raportów, informacji o kierunkach badań, prac dyplomowych itp., które gromadzone są w różnego typu systemach komputerowych m. in. można tutaj wymienić: bazy bibliograficzne, repozytoria lub tzw. bazy wiedzy uczelni wyższych, których integralną część bardzo często stanowią repozytoria archiwizujące dorobek naukowy pracowników danej szkoły wyższej. Artykuł ma na celu zaprezentowanie w jaki sposób wybrane systemy wspierają parametryzację jednostek naukowych w uczelniach wyższych. Zostaną przedstawione przykłady baz wiedzy i repozytoriów akademickich, które gromadzą informację instytucjonalną i przetwarzają ją na potrzeby różnego rodzaju sprawozdań, ankiet i zestawień bibliograficznych. Tego typu systemy rozbudowywane są o dodatkowe funkcjonalności np. identyfikację pracowników uczelni, informację o afiliacji i zatrudnieniu, funkcję do tworzenia zestawień bibliograficznych na potrzeby ocen okresowych, punktację ministerialną, informację na temat otwartego dostępu. W szczególności celem badań było ustalenie czy wymienione funkcje są zastosowane w wybranych systemach i w jaki sposób są prezentowane użytkownikom. Zostanie również przedstawiona problematyka implementacji otwartego dostępu w tego typu bazach.

One of the parameters of scientific institutions evaluation is an academic research activity. It is shared to public in the form of scientific publications, reports, information about directions of research, theses, etc., which are collected in different types of systems, like bibliographic databases, repositories or the university knowledge base. Often they are an integral part of scientific achievements repositories of university employees. This paper aims to present how the selected systems support the parameterization of research units. They will be presented examples of knowledge bases and academic repositories that gather institutional information and process it to the needs of various types of reports, surveys and bibliographic lists. Such systems are extended with additional functionality, eg. identification of university staff, information about the affiliation and employment functions to create bibliographic lists for a need of periodical evaluations, also for ministerial assessment and to provide information about open access. In particular, the aim of the research was to determine whether these functions are applied to selected systems and how they are presented to users. It will also be presented the issue of the implementation of open access model in this type of databases.
