The subject matter of the research pertains to the improvement of rheological properties of petroleum bitumens by their modification with SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) copolymer. The authors have determined selected rheological properties characterising the durability of modified bitumens used in road pavements. The bitumens were modified in laboratory conditions with modified bitumen concentrate of a known SBS copolymer content of 9%. The result was a binder containing the known percentage of the SBS copolymer of 3%, 4.5% and 6%. Rheological properties of the tested bitumens were determined by the use of a DSR dynamic shear rheometer (in a wide temperature range from 40°C to 100°C) and a ductilometer at 5°C. DSR was used for performing MSCR test to determine the resistance of the asphalt mixture with the SBS-modified binder to permanent deformations in the high temperature range (from 40°C to 82°C). The comparison of the values of the dynamic shear modulus |G*| of all the bitumens tested shows that with a growing content of the SBS copolymer in the tested binder the value of |G*| increases, which may indicate greater resistance to permanent deformation of the asphalt pavement. The MSCR test has shown that the increased use of the SBS copolymer addition in the bitumen translates to decreasing values of the non-recoverable creep compliance Jnr. The SBS copolymer accelerates stress relaxation in the bitumen sample, thus increasing pavement resistance to low-temperature cracks. Furthermore, modification reduces the negative impact of ageing on the properties of the binder, manifested by its stiffening and slowdown of relaxation.

Content available remote How High-Loft Textile Thermal Insulation Properties Depend on Compressibility

This paper investigates the performance of high-loft thermal insulations in terms of their compression properties, recovery behavior and thermal resistance. The aforementioned properties belong to the basic producer requirements for winter functional sportswear, sleeping bags or blankets. Majority of thermal insulation producers declare high quality of their products claiming durability and insulation within beginning of their application. But, it is important to uncover how dynamic compressive loading (which simulates real condition of using) influences heat transport of tested filling for the whole lifetime period. Therefore, two groups of top synthetic thermal insulation materials were tested before and after compression loading. Subsequently, relaxation behavior of samples was determined by thickness recovery after the compression test. Furthermore, thermal resistance was measured before and after the compression test to find out the change in thermal effectivity of samples. In summary, these results have not met expectations and show a rather poor correlation between the rate of compression after dynamic loading and the drop of thermal resistance of tested fillings.

Dimensional change problems experienced in textile products have always been an important subject and in the focus of attention. Today it is expected that dimensional changes in fabrics, the basic material of textile products, must range within certain limitations. Fabrics processed in the finishing divisions are wound or decatized in various forms according to the fabric structure and the demands of garment manufacturers. However, fabrics may be distorted in these storing processes, which results in undesired dimensional changes under the stress incurred. Nevertheless fabrics are required to be delivered to garment manufacturers at specific tension values. Indeed these values are not acquired as expected; consequently, it is known that they represent a core conflict subject between finishing plants and garment manufacturers. The present study investigated the structures of garment manufacturers and dimensional change problems they experience during fabric layout. The aim was to determine the severity of the problem in terms of the garment manufacturer and fabric types, which cause problems frequently, and to search for solutions to overcome this issue by means of a survey study. Solutions which would increase production efficiency and reduce processing time have been emphasized.

Problem zmiany wymiarów tekstyliów w czasie produkcji odzieży jest bardzo ważnym problemem, a zakres zmian musi być poddany określonym ograniczeniom. Tekstylia obrabiane w procesach wykończalniczych są następnie nawijane i dekatyzowane w określonych warunkach i powinny być dostarczane do wytwórcy pod określonym naprężeniem. Celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na ważność problemu z punktu widzenia wytwórcy odzieży oraz określenie rozwiązań, które prowadziłyby do zwiększenia wydajności i skrócenia czasu produkcji.

W artykule poddano weryfikacji dwie tezy: 1. Wprowadzenie nowego masowego produktu turystycznego na pograniczu polsko-litewsko-białoruskim spowoduje istotny wzrost zainteresowania tym regionem na świecie i wzrost liczby turystów na analizowanym obszarze; 2. Turystyka może stanowić jedną z istotnych dźwigni rozwojowych pogranicza polsko-litewsko-białoruskiego, a przede wszystkim może mieć największy udział w tworzeniu nowych miejsc pracy jeszcze w bieżącym okresie planistycznym. Celem artykułu jest wskazanie jednej z możliwości rozwoju inteligentnego produktu turystycznego na pograniczu polsko-litewsko-białoruskim, skierowanego do twórczych pracowników umysłowych. Zakres artykułu obejmuje wskazanie wybranych aspektów tworzenia inteligentnego produktu turystycznego: ogólnych, neurobiologicznych i organizacyjnych. Artykuł może być pomocny przy opracowywaniu koncepcji i programu wdrożeniowego nowego produktu.

The paper presents both the external and internal conditionings of introducing a new tourist product targeted at creative white-collar workers. It has been proposed that this product ought to be called an intelligent specialization of tourism, in which services would be organized on the basis of knowledge from the domains of neurosciences, psychology, tourism and management sciences. Among the external conditionings, attention has been drawn to such megatrends as globalization, development of service sector as well as the development of knowledge-based economy. This group of conditionings include also the concept of sustainable development, the strategy of intelligent development and the strategy of forming green economy. Among the internal conditionings the following were pointed: mental tiredness, creative tension, stress regulation and sleep, participation in sport activities, as well as in both cultural and dance events. More emphasis has been laid upon the nature-related conditions of forming a tourism product for creative white-collar workers.

Grupa zawodowa górników kojarzona jest nie tylko z zagrażającą życiu i zdrowiu pracą, ale również z charakterystycznymi formami spędzania wolnego czasu. Część z nich, utrwalona tradycją, kontynuowana jest przez kolejne pokolenia pracowników kopalń, stanowiąc element kultury górniczej. W artykule autorka skupiła uwagę na tych związanych z naturą: hodowlą zwierząt (gołębi pocztowych, ptactwa ozdobnego; królików i in.), "działalnością ogródkową" i wędkowaniem. Zaprezentowane materiały są efektem jej badań terenowych.

The real material structure taken from a railway wheel was loaded on a test equipment to find its stress-strain characteristic. The determined material variables were verified in the quoted computation. This paper presents results from the analysis with cyclic loading of two wheels with different diameters which are in mutual contact. The target of this research is to simulate by computational methods the low-cycle fatigue approved by metallurgical analyses.
