W artykule przedstawiono problemy rehabilitacji i rekonstrukcji obiektów historycznych oraz kwartałów mieszkaniowych w "sercu" Drezna. Omówiono Międzynarodowy Studencki Konkurs Urbanistyczny "Shopping-Center Dresden 2007" na koncepcję funkcjonalną i przestrzenną obszaru o pow. 3 ha w rejonie Georg Platz, który miał być próbą rozwiązania trudnego problemu w samym "sercu miasta". Do konkursu zaproszono: Bauhaus-Universitńt Weimar, Technische Universitńt Stuttgart oraz Wydział Architektury Politechniki Krakowskiej. Organizatorzy (Burmistrz Miasta Drezna, Real Estate & Shopping Association, Bauhaus-Universitńt Weimar) oczekiwali na nowe propozycje lokalizacji funkcji handlu w centrum miasta jako elementu zintegrowanego z innymi funkcjami i posiadającego rozwiązania architektoniczne uwzględniające historyczny kontekst.

The paper summarized the problems of rehabilitaion and reconstruction of historical buildings and living quarters in "the heart" of Dresden. International Studens' Urban Competition "Shopping-Center Dresden 2007", for functional and spatial concept of Georg Square (area of 3 ha), was the contribution to solving the difficult urban problems in "the heart of the city". Bauhaus-Universitńt Weimar, TU Stuttgart and Architecture Faculty of Cracow University of Technology has been invited to the competition. The organizers (Mayor of Dresden, representatives of Real Estate&Shopping Association, Bauhaus-Universitńt Weimar) expeted the proposals of location a new shopping centre in the inner city, as the integrated function with others and respected the historical context.
