Supply chain security is one of the challenges many countries are currently addressing. As this topic is a national security prerogative, the systems for screening also vary. The Czech Republic is preparing a legislative framework to protect strategically important infrastructure from high-risk suppliers. This commentary focuses on the Czech Republic’s progress in this area, particularly in the European context.

Informacje zamieszczane na etykiecie środka spożywczego, w szczególności rodzaj produktu, wykaz składników i data jego trwałości są niezwykle ważne dla konsumenta. Informacje te powinny być podane w sposób czytelny, ujednolicony, nie mogą wprowadzić nabywcy w błąd. W oparciu o dane zamieszczone na opakowaniu konsument niejednokrotnie podejmuje decyzję o zakupie danego produktu. Zapewnienie spełnienia ww. wymagań jest moż-liwe poprzez regulacje prawne w zakresie znakowania żywności. Ujednolicenie przepisów z tego obszaru, w obrębie Unii Europejskiej, jest niezbędne dla prawidłowego funkcjonowania obrotu handlowego.

Labeling of foodstuffs, in particular giving the exact nature and characteristics of the product, list of ingredients and date of minimum durability of a foodstuff is very important for the consumer. Labeling should be written readably, the use of information that would mislead the purchaser is prohibited. Fulfilment above requirements is possible by laws relating to labeling of foodstuffs. Differences between national laws may impede the free circulation of products and can lead to unequal conditions of competition. Therefore approximation of these laws is needed to the smooth functioning of market.
