The paper analyses the possibility to stabilise waters in the Great Mazury Lakes System on the level higher by 0,1-0,3 m than it is nów. Due to difficulties in the proper performance of water management tasks at the water-level of 115,75-115,85 above the sea, it is proposed to keep the water level at 115,85 in the summer period and at 116,05 in the win-ter period. The realisation of policy described in the articie may stop the process of degradation of the environment and especialiy of the cultural va!ues of this highly tourist region, what is particularly important with re-gard to the Great Mazury Lakes System.
