The size and complexity of decision problems in production systems and their impact on the economic results of companies make it necessary to develop new methods of solving these problems. One of the latest methods of decision support is business rules management. This approach can be used for the quantitative and qualitative decision, among them to production management. Our study has shown that the concept of business rules BR can play at most a supporting role in manufacturing management, but alone cannot form a complete solution for production management in foundries.

Rules are commonly used as a declarative method for knowledge representation. In the past, they were used in Rule-Based expert systems. Today they found application in such technologies as Complex Event Processing (CEP), Business Rules (BR), Business Processes Model and Notation and Semantic Web (SW). Despite their maturity, many unsolved problems still exist. One of them is related with rules interoperability and knowledge interchange. During the years many research were conducted and several methods were developed. Nevertheless, these methods suffer from their general and complex nature, which causes that the practical tool support is very weak.

Reguły są powszechnie stosowana metoda deklaratywnej reprezentacji wiedzy. Dawniej wykorzystywane w ekspertowych systemach regułowych, dzisiaj znajdują nowe zastosowania. Pomimo swojej dojrzałości wciąż aktualny jest problem wymiany wiedzy pomiędzy różnymi reprezentacjami i formatami reguł. Istniejące technologie nie dostarczają efektywnych metod, a ponadto zawierają skomplikowane modele reprezentacji wiedzy, co skutkuje brakiem wsparcia narzędziowego. Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje obecny stan badań w obszarze wymiany wiedzy regułowej.

A new approach to project effort estimation is presented in this paper. It is related to Delphi method of estimation by experts. It also makes use of the business processes and business rules related to the newest OMG standards. A software tool implemented to verify the concept correctness is described.

W artykule przedstawiono nowe podejście do estymowania pracochłonności projektów. Z jednej strony nawiązuje ono do metody Delphi estymowania przez niezależnych od siebie nawzajem ekspertów, a z drugiej strony, w ramach najnowszych standardów OMG, wykorzystuje procesy biznesowe oraz reguły biznesowe. Opisano również opracowane narzędzie stanowiące weryfikację poprawności koncepcji.

Business Rules allow for defining statements that describe some aspects of the business and precise what can be done in a specific situation. Our work concerns the efficient design and verification of the rule bases. In our previous research the HaDEs framework for visual design and verification of the rule bases was developed. This framework provides an on-line verification during integrated hierarchical design process.The main goal of this paper is to propose the HaDEs tools as effectively tool for Business Rules modeling.

Reguły biznesowe pozwalają na zdefiniowanie niektórych aspektów działania przedsiębiorstwa i postępowania w danej sytuacji. Badania mają na celu stworzenie efektywnej metody projektowania i weryfikacji reguł biznesowych. Dotychczas opracowano zintegrowane środowisko wizualnego projektowania i weryfikacji reguł. Projektowanie reguł składa się z trzech faz podczas których wytwarzany model jest nieustannie monitorowany pod kątem poprawności składniowej i logicznej. Głównym celem tego artykułu jest pokazanie, w jaki sposób wytworzone środowisko projektowania reguł może zostać użyte do projektowania reguł biznesowych.

Business Process Modeling Notation constitute a powerful and widely accepted visual language for modeling business processes. Such processes can help organizations to manage with complex tasks and control the workflow. Practical implementation of such processes is a challenging task. Business Rules constitute one of the promising solutions for this issue. They can provide declarative specification of domain knowledge encoded into a BPMN model as well as describe the lower level business logic, coherent with business processes. Moreover, tools supporting Business Rules can provide a flexible runtime environment. This paper presents overview of our results for the research concerning modeling Business Processes that are consistent with Business Rules. It briefly describes the possibilities for such integration and the outlook for the future works.

Notacja BPMN stanowi istotne narzędzie w dziedzinie wizualnego modelowania procesów biznesowych. Procesy biznesowe mogą pomóc organizacji w zarządzaniu zadaniami i kontroli przepływu pracy. W praktyce jednak implementacja takich procesów jest skomplikowanym zadaniem. Jednym z obiecujących rozwiązań w tym zakresie są reguły biznesowe. Mogą one stanowić deklaratywną specyfikację warstwy logiki biznesowej i opisywać zarówno logikę zakodowaną na diagramie BPMN, jak i dodatkową specyfikację reguł. Narzędzia związane z regułami biznesowymi są wspierane przez środowiska do ich uruchamiania. W artykule zaprezentowano przegląd wybranych rezultatów badań nad modelowaniem procesów biznesowych spójnych z regułami biznesowymi. Pokrótce zostały opisane możliwości integracji oraz perspektywy dalszych prac.

BPMN has recently become a de facto standard for modeling and design of complex software intensive processes. It is widely used not only in the Business Process domain. Numerous tools supporting visual edition have been developed. Despite its unquestionable advantages the semantic analysis of logical properties seems to be one of the weaknesses of this formalism. In order to assure reliable process execution the overall structure of the graph and its logical operation should be verified.

BPMN staje się powoli standardem de facto w modelowaniu i projektowaniu procesów zawierających istotne komponenty programowe. Jest powszechnie stosowany nie tylko dla modelowania procesów biznesowych. Zaimplementowano wiele narzędzi wspomagających wizualne projektowanie diagramów BPMN. Niestety, pomimo niezaprzeczalnych sukcesów semantyka BPMN i analiza własności logicznych stanowią ciągle słabe strony. Aby zapewnić niezawodną pracę systemów, należy przeprowadzić formalną analizę systemu.

This paper presents preliminary results of the research concerning integration of Business Processes designed with BPMN models with Business Rules represented with the use of an expressive rule language XTT2. The presented solution allows for translation of BPMN diagram restricted to main control flow objects to XTT2. Business Rules. The translated rules can be executed using HeaRT, a rule engine for XTT2. The main goal of the research is to build a logical declarative model of BPMN-modeled process suitable for formal analysis.

W pracy przedstawiono wstępne wyniki badań możliwości integracji narzędzi opisu procesów biznesowych z narzędziami do modelowania reguł. Proponowane podejście pozwala na translację bazowych diagramów BPMN do postaci regułowej w modelu XTT2, oraz na analizę i wykonanie otrzymanych reguł za pomocą silnika regułowego HeaRT. Badania ukierunkowane są na budowę logicznego, deklaratywnego modelu procesów BPMN, który pozwalałby na ich formalną analizę.

The paper presents the application of business rules approach for the classification of foundry clients taking into account the economic and technological attributes. Business Rules Management (BRM) systems allow non-technical business people to change the rules, analyze them for errors, and test and simulate them for impact analysis. Although BRM is focused on business processes improvement, it is possible to use this approach in technology management. The model of classification problem, and the knowledge base as a set of decision tables are presented in the paper. The results indicate that the proposed business rules tool REBIT, developed by AGH team as the project co-funded by the European Union, is feasible as a complete knowledge base and technology management method.

Approaches used today to business rules implementation do not solve the problem of tangling and scattering the source code representing application business logic with the source code representing business rules. The problem can be solved by introducing a new layer intermediated between business rule repository and application logic layer. The requirements for such layer were identified and the possibility of implementing the layer in AspectJ language was considered.

Stosowane współcześnie podejścia do implementacji reguł biznesowych nie rozwiązują problemów poplątania i rozproszenia kodu logiki biznesowej z kodem reprezentującym reguły biznesowe. Problemy te można rozwiązać przez wprowadzenie nowej warstwy, pośredniczącej pomiędzy repozytorium reguł biznesowych i warstwą logiki aplikacji. W artykule przedstawiono wymagania dla warstwy pośredniczącej i przeanalizowano możliwość jej realizacji w języku AspectJ.

Tematyka pracy prezentuje istotny aspekt życia społeczeństwa miejskiego, jakim niewątpliwie jest przemieszczanie się za pomocą środków komunikacji miejskiej. To typowe, codzienne zachowanie daje zaczątki do pełnej schematyzacji oraz planowania zwykłych czynności związanych z komunikacją w środowisku aglomeracji miejskiej. Zadaniem personelu informatycznego jest nie tylko edycja tras, rozkładów jazdy tramwajów, zarządzanie kontami klientów, ale również dbałość o dane statystyczne, ich przejrzystość, odpowiednie archiwizowanie i przetwarzanie w systemie OLAP.

The paper presents the transportation system that allows for the designation of the shortest route. Routing can be implemented in two different ways: transport with and without changing the communication tram or bus. The statistical analysis of data collected will allow the matching of configurations of public transport to the traffic flow, depending on the time travel and its period. The decisions taken as a result of the analysis allow you to fit the conditions of transport to the expectations of customers.

The growth of efficiency in supply chain management depends on the level of IT support in enterprise and its flexibility to adapt to changes. Business rules management systems enable dynamic adjustment to unstable environmental conditions, whereas business process management systems give support for serializing processes. The paper provides overview of new rule-based process modeling language which integrates both approaches.

Zwiększenie efektywności zarządzania łańcuchem dostaw zależy od poziomu wsparcia informatycznego przedsiębiorstwa oraz jego elastyczności. Systemy oparte na regułach biznesowych pozwalają na dynamiczne dostosowywanie się do zmiennych warunków otoczenia. Natomiast systemy zarządzania przepływem pracy pozwalają na usystematyzowanie procesów. Praca prezentuje wyniki badań nad zdefiniowaniem uniwersalnego metajęzyka łączącego oba podejścia w celu stworzenia elastycznego systemu modelowania procesów biznesowych.
