The paper presents an example of regeneration of a common rail piezoelectric fuel injector, which was carried out with using used parts. The most important stages of maintenance activities are listed, as well as the types of diagnostic tests performed on separate test benches. The obtained results indicate that this process can be effectively carried out with existing technological problems and lack of support from the manufacturer. At the same time, it was shown that, contrary to popular belief, cannibalisation does not have to be limited only to minor elements, but also to key components important from the point of view of the satisfactory technical condition and correct working of the fuel injector during further operation.

The paper presents a method of testing piezoelectric fuel injectors in modern common rail systems, which allows them to be repaired almost to the full extent. The obtained results indicate that this process can be effectively carried out, even taking into account the existing technological limitations. The most important stages of the implemented activities are specified, first of all the scope of required maintenance activities in the pre- and post-assembly stages, as well as the types of diagnostic tests carried out on separate test benches. Although the presented analysis concerns a specific example, individual conclusions and observations can be applied to fuel injectors from other manufacturers, in which the actuator is not replaceable.

A properly implemented strategy regarding the planer knife regeneration process, may not only restore the original cutting ability of the tool, but even increase its operational quality, including its durability for industrial woodworking processes. This article presents experimental results and discussion in respect of sharpening planer knives with cubic boron nitride grinding wheels. Both the grinding conditions and machining surface quality were analyzed. Application of improper size or loads of abrasive grains may lead to the appearance of grinding burns on a machined surface, or result in a surface with cracks and grooves. The results of the measurements carried out indicate that surfaces with reduced values of roughness and waviness parameters can be obtained, even up to 22% (as in the case of the reduced peak height parameter, Spk) in relation to new knives, prepared at a factory. The value of St and Sds parameters are almost the same as reference knife (deviation up to 3%). Due to machining marks, the total waviness exceeds 33%. Our research also shows that due to the technological quality of the knife surfaces, it is beneficial to use CBN grains with a low depth of cut (ae no more than 0.02 mm), but a moderate or high feed rate (the best choice is about 470 mm/min for vft). Presented results constitute an important know-how for the grinding process with the use of grinders used by operators (like WEINIG Rondamat 980) during the sharpening of planer cutter heads in the wood industry.

The paper presents the author's own method for testing piezoelectric common rail fuel injectors, which for many years were considered non-repairable components. This was mainly due to the lack of availability of spare parts and dedicated measuring equipment, enabling full diagnostics under test bench conditions. As a result, their workshop and laboratory servicing was very limited, as effective disassembly concerned basically only the plunger and barrel assembly (needle with nozzle) for selected reference models. The situation has now improved to such an extent that an author’s own regeneration procedure has been proposed with the replacement of the most important controls and actuators. The tests were carried out on the example of Siemens VDO Continental PCR 2.3 fuel injectors from one engine, listing the most important stages of this process, including the correction of fuel dosage and returns.

The article presents a research of a regeneration process launched in a rural area deprived of local traditions. After the collapse of industry, the former workers' housing estate in the village of Wierzbica began to degrade. The degradation process included the breakdown of social ties and the collapse of tradition. The authors of the regeneration programme faced the challenge of rebuilding a collective identity of the inhabitants. The direction of renewal of the housing estate developed with its inhabitants focused on issues related to the improvement of land development, technical condition of the development and technical infrastructure, and the development of a new social program for the residents of the housing estate.

W artykule zaprezentowano badania związane z planowaniem rewitalizacji na obszarach wiejskich, pozbawionych lokalnych tradycji. Wraz z upadkiem przemysłu, dawne osiedle robotnicze we wsi Wierzbica zaczęło ulegać degradacji.

The aim of the paper is to present cultural heritage of the textile industry, crucial for the past development of central parts of Poland, which could be an important value for supra-regional identity and potential. The analysis based on the case studies of three historical post-industrial complexes includes data examination and study walks. The chosen complexes are situated in Zgierz, Łódź and Żyrardów, i.e. towns that have been subject to consistent and long-term urban regeneration processes done in the spirit of sustainable development and multifunctional exploitation. The conducted analysis proves that the historical and cultural values of these complexes are of supra-regional nature and that their accessibility as well as existing service infrastructure and highlights make them attractive not only locally. The article leads to the conclusion that in order to use their potential to the fullest, there is a need of a common action on the regional level, such as the creation of a cultural route.

Article shows the effect of the addition to the fuel used for the regeneration of the injection system on heat release rate in the compression ignition engine. This fuel additive has been used according to the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure optimum conditions for the experiment. Empirical studies were conducted on a Perkins 1104C-E44T four-cylinder, supercharged Diesel engine. The cleaning process took place for the first time in this drive unit. During the tests, the pressure of the working medium was measured before and after cleaning of the system by means of said fuel additive. Analysis of the obtained results was used to determine the course of the Heat Release Rate as a parameter of the combustion process affecting the concentration of toxic substances and the lifetime of the drive unit.

One of the important and still current problems occurring in the fish processing industry is the intensive wear of the cutting surface of industrial cutting blades used to separate the fish raw material. In the paper, the proposes aproprietary solution to the above problem consisting in the regeneration of worn surfaces realized in the process of precise grinding by the use of a prototype 5-axis CNC grinding machine was presented. The obtained machining results were verified, among others on the basis of measurements of values of the cutting edges inclination angles and analysis of values of selected surface roughness parameters. The proposed solution along with the developed methodology can be an interesting alternative to typical ways of renewing the cutting ability of cutting tools in applications from the fish processing industry.

In the paper, the regeneration process of the material in grade C45 using the MAG welding was analysed. The effect of preheating on the properties of the regenerated layers was determined. Preheating technology was used to facilitate the process of regeneration and minimize the risk of imperfections. The use of numerical methods allows one to observe the direction of changes in the properties, structures and emerging stresses and accompanying strains of the elements depending on the temperature applied for preheating. Modeling of the stress state in the element made of medium carbon steel during the regeneration process was performed on original software based on the finite element method. The implemented numerical model consists of three basic elements – thermal phenomena, mechanical phenomena and phase transformations in the solid state. The performed numerical analysis made determining the optimum heating conditions possible, so that the material in the area of joint didn’t show tendency to create structural notches associated with the stress state.
