Kwestia dostępności środowiska życia człowieka i dostosowywania go do (bardzo różnorodnych) potrzeb użytkowników nie jest nowa, jednak nie w każdym zakresie udało się już wypracować odpowiednie wzorce i wytyczne uniwersalnego projektowania. Dostępne dla wszystkich użytkowników i odpowiadające ich zróżnicowanym potrzebom otwarte strefy nauki i rekreacji stanowią przejaw nowego sposobu myślenia o roli przestrzeni miejskich. Artykuł ma na celu zarówno przybliżenie rozwiązania modelowego - Darrell’s Dream Boundless Playground, jak i określenie wytycznych, które mogłyby stać się pomocne dla tworzenia kolejnych, wolnych od barier, przestrzeni tego rodzaju.

The matter of the accessibility of the human living environment and adapting it to (often highly diverse) user needs is not new, yet not all of its fields have had proper models and universal design guidelines prepared for them. Open learning and recreation zones that are accessible to all users and which correspond to their various needs are a sign of a new way of thinking about the role of urban spaces. This paper is intended to both familiarise readers with a model solution - Darrell’s Dream Boundless Playground and formulate guidelines that could aid in the construction of new, barrier-free spaces of this type.

Revitalization possibilities of the post-mining area of natural aggregate mine in the Waryś village

According to the social expectations, the natural aggregates post-mining area in Waryś should be revitalized towards the water function and serve as a recreational area. The paper identified the features which characterize the post-mining area of “Waryś” mine and its surroundings. On the basis of these features evaluation of opportunities for recreation and leisure functions was conducted. The conducted analysis indicates that although this feature seems to be attractive for many reasons, from the point of view of economic efficiency it is not justified, as the necessary revitalization works will require incurring high capital investment costs necessary for proper formation of the recreation and leisure space and its surroundings. At the same time the possible financial benefits probably will not balance the amount of costs incurred for the maintenance of the infrastructure and objects serving the recreation and leisure functions. However, the risk of failure of the revitalization may be decreased by diversifying the form of shaped space, because various revitalization modes and/or functions may efficiently coexist with each other, thereby forming a synergy effect.

Cztery parki w Neu-Orlikon w Zurychu, są przykładem na to, że rewitalizacja poprzemysłowych dzielnic polega nie tylko na przebudowie starych budynków czy stworzeniu nowych miejsc pracy, ale również na zapewnieniu przyszłym mieszkańcom i prawnikom zielonych terenów rekreacyjnych. To także inspiracja do tworzenia miejsc w nawiązaniu do historii i genius loci.
