Results of investigation of gas hold-up in a bubble column (0.13x0.13 m in diameter and 1.6 m high, without baffles) to which pulsations were applied by means of a steel plate located at the tank bottom are presented. The tests were made for water-air and triethylene glycol-air and 0.07% aqueous solution of PAA-air systems at changing frequencies of the plate pulsations in the range from 0 Hz to 33 Hz and at the amplitude from 0.5 mm to 2 mm.

Przedstawiono wyniki badań stopnia zatrzymania gazu w kolumnie pęcherzykowej (0,13x0,13 m i wysokości 1,6 m, bez przegród), do której wprowadzono pulsacje za pomocą płytki stalowej umieszczo-nej przy dnie zbiornika. Badania przeprowadzono dla układów; woda-powietrze, glikol trój etylenowy-powietrze oraz 0,07% wodny roztwór PAA-powietrze w zakresie zmian częstości drgań płytki od 0 Hz do 33 Hz i amplitudy 0,52 mm. The main problem in designing reactors with oscillating ele ments and the OBR, OBC or COBR-type pulsators is to deter-I mine the frequency of oscillations and their amplitude necessary I to obtain gas bubbles of defined sizes depending on phases physicochemical properties, e.g. viscosity and/or interfacial tension. Preliminary results of the study dealing with the effect of a continuous phase oscillation frequency and amplitude on gas hold-up in a bubble column with the pulsating element are dis cussed in the paper.
