Content available remote Numerical validation of drilling of Al6061-T6 with experimental data
EN
Drilling is a cutting process that uses a drill bit to cut a circular profile in workpiece. Forces acting on the drill bit reduce its life expectance. Analysis of forces acting on the drill bit during drilling prevents the tool from failing prematurely because of wear and excess feed rate. Excess feed rate can induce excessive internal stress on both the tool and workpiece. This paper aims to study the effects of reaction force acting on a drill bit during drilling of Al6061-T6. A numerical finite element simulation study is performed with commercially available software called Abaqus. Simulation results depend on the right choice of material property such as Johnson-Cook material property and Johnson-Cook damage property. Validation of material property is achieved by comparison of experimental results with simulative results. Reaction force acting against the drill bit during drilling is compared.

Content available remote Approach To Analyse Of Reaction Forces In Ring-Traveller System
EN
The paper presents the approach to analyse of reaction forces and contact pressure for ring-traveller system in twisting machine. The theory of the ballooning yarn has been adapted for the calculation of reactions, and the motion equation is developed for traveller with two reaction forces. The components of normal reaction forces are analyzed for system with free balloon and control one. The effect of the balloon control ring is shown to be significant, reducing the reaction forces of traveller or increasing the speed of spindle. Contact pressure generated between the ring and the traveller is analyzed using Hertzian contact theory. The article also presents the recommendations for optimization of the traveller shape to increase its service life.

The paper is devoted to the dynamical modelling of the hexapod robot walking on a flat and hard ground. The main goal is to determine time series of reaction forces acting on individual legs of the robot during tripod gait often used both by the six-legged insects as well as mobile walking robots found in engineering applications. The movement of the considered robot is realized by the kinematic excitation of its legs using the so-called Central Pattern Generator (CPG) method. The paper demonstrates that there are different contact forces and overload acting on the robot, resulting from different models working as a CPG. The mentioned forces belong to the important issues that should be taken into account when the robot locomotion on the unknown terrain is planned.

Since the end of the Cold War, contrary to widespread expectations of international community, the world has not become safer. A growing number of crisis situations including more and more complex armed conflicts prove that. Solving those situations has required and will probably still require the use of force that always raises doubts among not only NATO decision-makers but public opinion as well. Thus this article touches upon an essential and at the same time controversial issue of the use of armed force in a justified aim, i.e. in order to solve crisis situations that could pose a threat to international security and peace. The overview of the Alliance’s crisis response operations (so called Non Art. 5 Crisis Response Situations of the Washington Treaty – NA5CROs) explains the key problems connected with the use of armed force in these specific from a military pint of view operations. The author clearly stresses the thesis that the scale and range of the use of force by NATO armed forces depend on a particular crisis response situation.

There were very high operational and logistical requirements formulated of the European Union’s Battle Groups (EU BG). Every BG must be prepared to launch an operation after a maximum of 15 days from the political decision about its use. BG logistical potential should enable it to carry out operations for 30-120 days. Territorial coverage of EU BG intervention was defined up to 6000 kilometers from Brussels. The assurance of efficient and effective conducting of military operations by Multinational EU BG, from a logistics point of view, requires that its subunits (task forces) obtain the highest degree of interoperability understood in this case as the capacity of different nations sub-units to cooperate in all aspects of logistics support, i.e. in the area of munitions and materials supply, technical and military equipment support as well as the provision of the sub-units (task forces) transport. EU BG should have a stockpile supply of not less than 30 DOS (Daily Battle Supply Norms), of which 7 DOS should be kept in task forces and the remaining 23 DOS in National Support Elements. In the crisis response operations the basic logistical services necessary for EU BG are: transport and transshipment services, repair services, economic and household services. Particularly important are transport services which include two levels of support. The first level is the need to move BG forces and resources to the area of operations which usually requires the usage of strategic air transport. The second level is the realization of transport (of people, equipment and supplies) in the area of operation. Basic medical services for EU BG personnel in crisis response operations are provided in the range of pre-medical aid (first aid, qualified first aid and emergency medical operations) and medical aid (medicine first aid and qualified medical aid).

The current international security environment faces various challenges, either connected with the necessity to prevent or to solve crisis situations. It results mainly from an extension of international non-state attributed terrorism and the deepening economic differences between various regions of the world. Such situations leads to local conflicts influencing the security of different countries in various regions. Currently, crises threaten not only the countries directly involved in crisis situation, but also global security. Participation of designated Polish Armed Forces units in crisis reaction operations of international dimensions abroad is directly concerned with having adequate enabling capabilities to conduct such operations. Such capabilities are connected with the correct preparation of the armed forces to operate in crisis operations and the deployment to the crisis area. Considering the time factor, rapid deployment is of key importance. Experience show, that the most adequate transportation means is in such cases is air transport. Military transport aircraft can be used, providing it has the right mobility. The necessity to use system solutions with regard to air transportation requires research with the adequate concept in mind.

Content available remote The dynamic and timing criteria for assessing the single fin swimming technique
EN
The aim of the study was to analyse the reaction forces arising on single fin surfaces as a result of swimming movements. The crude data were recorded in the form of time-dependent signals representing the reactive water resistance force exerted on fin surface. They were collected using strain gauges and converted assuming sine harmonics to be a model of stability of propulsion generation parameters. The criteria for assessing the quality of the technique allowed us to explain the problem of both the efficiency and utilisation of the forces exerted during swimming.
