Evaluation of near field of the GSM base station antennas in urban environment

A simple and efficient method for evaluation of near field of the GSM base station antennas in urban environment is presented in this paper. The method is based on the replacement of panel antenna with a discrete linear array. Moreover, the geometrical optics approach is used to consider the influence of environment. The approximate results are found to be in excellent agreement with the results obtained by using the method of moments (MoM). Presented method can be successfully used for fast evaluation of exposure to electromagnetic fields emitted by the GSM base station antennas in urban environment.

Przedstawiono zasady projektowania bazowej stacji radiokomunikacyjnej. Opisano zasady wyznaczania tłumienia propagacyjnego w terenie otwartym i zabudowanym, według zaleceń ITU-R. Uwzględniono uwarunkowania technologiczne i wymagania ochrony środowiska.

The subject of this paper is the designing principles of a radio base station for application in wireless communication. The problem of a propagation loss determination has been described. The technological conditions and the environment protection requirements have been taken into account too.

Opisano system ekspertowy do wyznaczania parametrów eksploatacyjnych stacji bazowej, w którym zastosowano algorytm sztucznej inteligencji do optymalizowania tych parametrów. Podano przykłady typowych zastosowań i omówiono możliwości użytkowe.

The computer expert system for optimal designing of radio base station technical parameters is presented. In the system the artificial intelligence algorithm to get useful coverage of the radio station is applied. The usefulness of the expert system is showed.
