Mathematical surge modeling based on the pressure oscillations in the stable operation range of the compressor

Prevention of surge phenomenon is a very active ﬁeld of research in last decades. The Greitzer model is the most widely applied mathematical model describing the surge phenomenon. Two parameters that characterize the given compressing system: the Helmholtz oscillator frequency and the so-called B parameter have to be given as the input to Greitzer model. Although those parameters are easy to determine for simpliﬁed compressor models, they are extremely hard to predict in case of real industrial compressors. Moreover, in most cases it is impossible to analyse compressor unstable work, which makes this prediction even more speculative. Therefore the method that determines the parameters basing on the compressor stable operation is indispensable. In paper the regularly perturbed Greitzer model based method of predicting the behaviour of a compressor in the unstable operation basing on signals from its stable operation is proposed and discussed.

W artykule opisano zalety sprężarek promieniowych ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem sprężarek z łożyskiem magnetycznym. Przedstawiono działanie łożysk magnetycznych i problemy związane z chłodzeniem silnika i systemów sterowania. Ponadto zwrócono uwagę na możliwość zwiększania sprawności przez zastosowanie ekonomizera oraz zalety wynikające z hezolejowego działania sprężarek. Omówiono zakres temperatury działania, tj. temperatury parowania i skraplania. Przedstawiono schematy równoległego łącznia sprężarek stosowanego dość często w agregatach do chłodzenia cieczy.

In this article the advantages of radial compressors with special emphasis on compressors with magnetic bearings ware elaborated. The operation of the magnetic bearing problems with cooling and control systems was illustrated. Futhermore special attention was paid to the possibility of increasing the efficiency of the use of the economizer and the advantages of oil-free compressor operation. Range of diagrams of parallel interconnectirity of compressors used quite often in chillers for cooling liquid ware presented.

Przedstawiono nietypowy przypadek awarii sprężarki, podczas której wał uległ całkowitemu zniszczeniu korozyjnemu po 16 dniach eksploatacji maszyny.

The analysis of both operation conditions and causes of damages for centrifugal compressor type GHH has been performed. The turbocompressor is usually working with NOx gaseous mixture in nitric acid installation. Operating time of the new rotor was very short - 16 days only. Assessment of its suitability for existing conditions of operation was made in the paper.

W referacie wskazano, że metody projektowania maszyn sprężających nie są wystarczająco dokładne. Droga do ich doskonalenia wiedzie poprzez badania eksperymentalne oraz analizy numeryczne przepływu. Projektowanie procesu sprężania i stopni sprężających należy rozpatrywać także w kontekście konstrukcji całego agregatu maszyny. Do wstępnych wyborów konstruowania stopnia w dalszym ciągu pomocna jest teoria podobieństwa przepływu i wprowadzone na tej podstawie wskaźniki charakterystyczne. W referacie zasygnalizowano tematykę prac prowadzonych w Katedrze Techniki Cieplnej oraz przedstawiono producentów i sprzedawców maszyn sprężających na terenie Wielkopolski.

The paper proves, that constructing methods of the compressors arę not accurate enough. Ex-perimental tests and numerical analyses of the flow arę the way to improvement. Designing of ihe compression process and stages should be verified concerning the whole aggregate of the machinę. The theory of the flow similarity is still helpful to prelirninary chooses of the constructing method. So arę the characteristic indexes. The paper indicates the subject of the research conducted I the chair of thermal engineering and presents manufactures and companies which sell compressors in the region of Wielkopolska.
