New radar system along the Polish coast and inside Polish ports

This paper presents the radar system installed by the Polish maritime administration within the scope of the “National System of Maritime Safety (KSBM)” project. One of the main objectives of introducing the system is to improve the safety of navigation on the fairways, routes and in traffic separation schemes and ports, as well as the environmental protection of the coastal waters of Polish maritime areas. Radars are intended mainly for the early detection and accurate tracking of ships for the purpose of preventing maritime accidents and pollution of the sea and coast line. They are connected to a digital exchange network that allows remote handling and data transfer in relation to radar station – control centre – radar station and between control centres. The basic technical parameters of the purchased radars, installation position and the detection ranges, calculated by means of the CARPET program for objects and conditions defined in the IALA Recommendation V-128, are described.

Zasadniczym celem rozpoznania elektronicznego ELINT (ang. Electronic Intelligence) jest zbieranie danych o emitowanych sygnałach radarowych i na ich podstawie śledzenia pracy wykrytych i rozpoznanych źródeł emisji elektromagnetycznej (radarów), podnoszenie alarmu o grożącym niebezpieczeństwie oraz planowanie odpowiedniego przeciwdziałania. W artykule przedstawiono krótką charakterystykę parametrów sygnału radarowego oraz dokonano analizy modulacji międzyimpulsowej okresu powtarzania impulsów i metod skanowania anteny. Badania skoncentrowano na określeniu korelacji pomiędzy budową struktur czasowych sygnałów a przeznaczeniem radaru. Różne rodzaje modulacji między-impulsowej sygnałów zostały zilustrowane na podstawie danych pomiarowych wykonanych przy pomocy urządzeń rozpoznania elektronicznego.

In the electronic intelligence system (ELINT) in the process of identification radar signals are used both technical and tactical parameters. The detailed analysis of radar signal parameters was made in conjunction to radar applications. The article describes the role of the specific radar parameters (signatures), mainly the different types of inter-pulse modulation and antenna scanning and in which way they may be applied in the electronic recognition system. A few examples of measured signals with different types of inter-pulse modulation for radars with different applications are presented.
