W artykule przedstawiono uspokojenie ruchu jako formę redukcji poziomu hałasu ruchu drogowego na przykładzie osiedla mieszkaniowego Włostowice w Puławach, zlokalizowanego przy drodze wojewódzkiej nr 824. Na terenie osiedla kompleksowo wprowadzono uspokojenie ruchu przez hierarchizację sieci dróg, zarządzanie strefami prędkości oraz wprowadzenie wielu elementów technicznych uspokojenia ruchu. Na podstawie wyników badań sporządzono wykresy zmiany poziomu hałasu w zależności od występowania elementów uspokojenia ruchu oraz wykonano mapę klimatu akustycznego panującego na terenie osiedla. Za pomocą izolinii równoważnego poziomu dźwięku możliwe było wstępne wyznaczenie stref ciszy i wskazanie, że mogą się one znajdować na osiedlach usytuowanych przy drogach o funkcji tranzytowej. Badania mają charakter pilotażowy i będą kontynuowane.

The article presents traffic calming as a form of reducing the level of road noise, which is an example of the method that reduces noise in the area of emissions. Noise level tests were carried out on road No. 824 and on the Włostowice estate, which is located close to this road. In the area, traffic calming has been comprehensively implemented by hierarchizing the road network, managing the speed zones and introducing the number of technical elements of traffic calming. On the basis of the obtained test results, a graph of noise level variation was made depending on the occurrence of traffic calming elements and also an acoustic climate map in the estate. With the help of the generated isolines, it was possible to determine the silence zones and prove that they can be present even in estates located along roads with a transit function.

Awareness of noise hazards and the value of soundscapes in Polish national parks

The goal of the studies undertaken in Polish national parks was to determine noise threats, examine the resources, assess the quality of soundscapes and identify the possibilities of their protection. The questionnaire method used in the studies made it possible to identify the awareness of noise threats and the value of soundscapes according to the park service staff. In addition, the semantic differential and description methods were used to learn how students assessed the soundscape quality of Polish national parks. Finally, avenues of further research on soundscape in environmentally valuable areas were indicated. The research findings indicate that each national park in Poland is characterised by diverse and unique soundscapes and is subject to the pressure of road traffic and tourism resulting in noise hazards. The conservation of the acoustic values of parks is necessary and possible.
