A few comments on determining the shapes of hyperboloid cooling towers by the means of ambient tangents method

The paper presents the contemplations on determining the parameters of location and shape of the model hyperboloid cooling tower by the means of the ambient tangents method. The attention has been drawn to the method of determining the so-called length of the tangent, understood as the horizontal distance between the station and the points of tangency with the structure, as well as to the impact of calculation of this length on the parameters of the shell being determined. The calculations of the length of the tangent according to two algorithms have been schematically illustrated on the charts and diagrams.

W pracy przedstawiono rozważania na temat wyznaczania parametrów położenia i kształtu modelowej chłodni hiperboloidalnej metodą otaczających stycznych. Uwagę kierowano na sposób wyznaczania tak zwanej długości stycznej, rozumianej jako pozioma odległość między stanowiskiem a punktem styczności z obiektem, oraz na wpływ obliczenia tej długości na wyznaczane parametry powłoki. Obliczenia długości stycznej według dwóch algorytmów zilustrowano schematycznie na wykresach.

W pracy przedstawiono pewien sposób ustalania geometrycznej budowy struktur powierzchniowych o rozbudowanym ukształtowaniu, złożonych z niewielu typów wycinków powierzchni stopnia drugiego, przy założeniu, że liczba wszystkich wycinków współtworzących strukturę jest stosunkowo duża.

The paper presents some observations collected on the basis of scientific research on shaping of the shell structures [sigma]. The essence of this presentation is the description of methods of shaping structures [sigma], which are composed of recurrent sectors [omega i], of quadric surfaces and their shape approximate to regular surfaces. The conclusions of the conducted discussion are illustrated by concrete examples of shell structures [sigma], which fulfil the preliminary geometric conditions. Rectilinearity of the edge lines of the sectors [omega i ] is only one of these conditions.
