Problems in the organisation of the transport process on the international market

The transport process consists of many stages, where many interferences and problems may occur. It is important to identify these problems and find solutions to them, for example, using innovative tools supporting transport process management. A properly organised transport process allows the entire supply chain to function properly. For a transport process to be effective, it must be appropriately coordinated from planning, organising, implementing and controlling. In each of these phases, different types of problems may be encountered; therefore, the persons responsible for the various phases must monitor them closely. By reacting quickly, they can resolve any interference, so that the whole supply chain runs without major problems. The organisation of transport processes consists of several phases, which are an integral part of the whole process. Properly trained staff, knowledge of the transport market and the needs of the customer are essential for a company to function properly. Thanks to these three components, a company can offer services at the highest level. This work aims to develop a scheme of the transport process on the international market and also identify problems occurring in the organisation of transport processes. Some solutions to existing problems are also proposed.

W artykule podjęto problematykę bezpieczeństwa logistycznego na rynku usług transportowych. Opisano system bezpieczeństwa logistycznego. Zwrócono uwagę na bezpieczeństwo kierowców na trasach międzynarodowych. Dokonano analizy zamachów terrorystycznych z udziałem pojazdów ciężarowych. Wskazano na możliwości zminimalizowania zagrożeń i wzmocnienia systemu bezpieczeństwa.

This article describes the problem of empty mileages, which occurs currently in many transport companies. Each company has its large customer base and often a lot of transport orders, but it is not the only factor affecting the fluidity of the transport process. It is essential to have well organized the spedition department along with the IT systems. Many transport companies apply modern technologies and innovative solutions, but these companies do not have a solution to solve the problem of empty mileages. The aim of this article is to propose changes, which could minimise empty mileages in the researched enterprise.

Background: The paper presents an innovative approach to the collaboration in joint transport processes within existing supply chains which has been implementing by member companies of ECR Poland. Current approach results in inefficient use of resources due to mainly horizontal cooperation between individual service users and service providers. This effect has been demonstrated by research conducted by the author as well as by the European Environmental Agency. Methods: The aim of this paper is to present how design thinking approach allows creation of new transport business model and communication platform. Results: Created solution allowing simultaneous vertical and horizontal co-operation of independent companies involved in the organization of transport processes. The result of such cooperation is the elimination of identified inefficiencies through sustainable use of available resources. Conclusions: The work is summarized by the results of the implementation of presented solutions within the group of companies operating in the FMCG sector in Poland. Companies were able to reduce their transport costs, increase load factor, reduce empty runs as well as reduce congestion on roads where they operate.

Wstęp: Artykuł prezentuje innowacyjne podejście do współpracy niezależnych firm produkcyjnych we wspólnej organizacji procesów transportowych w istniejących łańcuchów dostaw. Praca prezentuje rezultaty osiągnięte przez firmy produkcyjne należące do ECR Polska. Przesłanką do podjęcia współpracy pomiędzy firmami była potrzeba poszukiwania nowych modeli organizacji procesów transportowych celem poprawy ich skuteczności i efektywności. Aktualne podejście do organizacji przewozów charakteryzuje się nieefektywnym wykorzystaniem zasobów. Wynika to głównie z faktu współpracy poziomek między poszczególnych usługodawcami i usługobiorcami. Potwierdziły to nadania potwierdzone przez autorów, a także przez Europejską Agencję Ochrony Środowiska. Metody: Celem pracy jest przedstawienie sposobu wykorzystania metody "design thinking" do stworzenia nowego modelu współpracy niezależnych firm z wykorzystaniem innowacyjnej platformy komunikacyjnej. Wyniki: Stworzone, w ramach przeprowadzonych przez autorów prac badawczych, rozwiązanie umożliwia jednoczesną pionową i poziomą współpracę niezależnych firm zlecających usługi transportowe jak i firm zajmujących się organizacją procesów transportowych. Efektem tej współpracy jest wyeliminowanie zidentyfikowanych wad istniejących rozwiązań poprzez zrównoważone wykorzystanie dostępnych zasobów. Wnioski: W podsumowaniu autorzy prezentują wyniki pilotażowego wdrożenia opisanego rozwiązania przez firmy w sektorze FMCG w Polsce. Firmy były w stanie zredukować koszty transportu, zwiększyć współczynnik wykorzystania pojazdów, zredukować puste przebiegi, a także zredukować kongestię w regionie, w którym prowadzą działalność.

Current model of organization of supply chains results in inefficient use of transport resources, high transport costs, increasing congestions and CO2 emission. This effect has been demonstrated by research conducted by the authors as well as by the European Environmental Agency. This situation can be change by development of alternative business model for collaboration in organisation of the transport processes within the supply chains. The aim of this paper is to present practical implementation of the T-Scale platform that enables collaboration between independent transport users and transport service providers. Moreover, an overview of existing communication platform with its major functionalities are presented. The work is summarized by the major benefits of collaboration achieved by the group of companies operating in the FMCG sector in Poland.

Obecne modele organizacji łańcuchów dostaw wykorzystują zasoby transportowe w sposób nieefektywny, co skutkuje wysokimi kosztami transportu, rosnącą kongestią oraz wzrostem emisji CO2. Potwierdzają to badania prowadzone przez autorów, a także przez Europejską Agencję Ochrony Środowiska. Opisane w pracy problem mogą być wyeliminowane poprzez wprowadzenie w firmach nowego modelu wspólnej organizacji procesów transportowych w łańcuchach dostaw. Celem tej pracy jest przedstawienie wyników z praktycznego wdrożenia platformy T-Scale, która umożliwia współpracę niezależnych użytkowników transportu i dostawców usług transportowych w oparciu innowacyjny model biznesowy. Dodatkowo w pracy zaprezentowano przegląd istniejących platform komunikacyjnych wraz z ich głównymi funkcjonalnościami. Prace podsumowują wyniki wdrożenia rozwiązania w grupie firm z branży FMCG działającej w Polsce.

W artykule omówiony został jeden z głównych problemów operacyjnych polskich firm produkcyjnych – puste przebiegi. Problem ten szczególnie nasila się gdy przedsiębiorstwo posiada własny tabor. Sposobem zmniejszenia kosztów związanych przejazdami bez towaru są platformy frachtowe, które notują bardzo dynamiczny wzrost użytkowników z sektora produkcyjnego. Przemyślane zagospodarowanie transportu pozwala znacznie obniżyć jego koszty. Wymaga to jednak zastosowania innowacyjnych rozwiązań, które dotychczas nie były powszechne wśród firm produkcyjnych.

Paper discussed the operating problems of Polish productive companies – empty running. Problem this intensifies particularly when the enterprise possesses the own car. The way reduction costs connected which rides without goods are road transport systems, which write down very dynamic growth users from the productive sector. Well-thought-out farm implementing transportation lets considerably cut down costs. This requires however the uses of the innovative solutions which were not until now general among productive companies.
