The aim of the work was the new application of the acoustic emission (AE) method for monitoring the phase conversion and the polymorphic conversion of the raw material components of the ceramics during the manufacture process by the sintering. The specific parameters of this process for the several ceramic materials were described and compared. The main subject of research concerns the evaluation of the aluminium based electrical porcelain used for the production of the high-voltage insulators and the insulation materials applied in the electronic devices. The diagram and the procedure of the home designed AE signals analyser was presented. The usefulness of different types of the AE descriptors for the ceramic materials testing was evaluated. The results of the AE signals monitoring of the electrical porcelain in the temperature range 20-700 degrees centigrade were verified by the measurements by the DTA, DG and the thermic dilitation coefficient methods.
