The aim of this article is to show risk as an essential factor that plays an important role in the development of technology entrepreneurship. Risk is both an opportunity and a threat in building a high market position. The great challenge for entrepreneurs is how to use the technology chance for the creation of competitive advantage in the global market. Moreover, this article presents the results of research about the barriers to academic entrepreneurship in Poland, which is one the main domains of technology entrepreneurship.

Celem artykułu jest prezentacja ryzyka jako istotnego czynnika, które może utrudniać rozwój przedsiębiorczości technologicznej, a jednocześnie może stanowić szansę na osiągnięcie spektakularnego sukcesu rynkowego. Ryzyko jest zawsze wielkim wyzwaniem, od którego przedsiębiorcy nie mogą uciec. Ryzyko jest szczególnie istotne w odniesieniu do kreowania i rozwoju przedsiębiorczości technologicznej. W takim ujęciu jest ono postrzegane głównie jako możliwość wykorzystania szansy technologicznej. W artykule zostały przedstawione również wyniki badań, dotyczących barier rozwoju przedsiębiorczości akademickiej w Polsce, która stanowi jeden z głównych przejawów przedsiębiorczości technologicznej.

W części dotyczącej prezentacji badań empirycznych przedsiębiorstw Doliny Lotniczej w Polsce autor, na podstawie metodyki jakościowego studium przypadku o charakterze porównawczym, prezentuje szkice empirycznych modeli struktury organizacyjnej, wspierającej procesy formułowania i wykorzystywania szans technologicznych.

In the article author presents technology entrepreneurship construct as a mechanism of strategic organizational development. The impact of technology entrepreneurship phenomenon on organizational development is presented on three levels, i.e.: processes, treats and results. In the article the emphasis is put on organizational structures as mechanism of organizational strategic development. In the part regarding empirical qualitative research of companies, which are the part of Aviation Valley in Poland, the sketches of models of organizational structures which support processes of opportunity identification and exploitation are presented.

Konstrukcja modelu badawczego jest wynikiem krytycznej analizy literatury przedmiotu oraz wstępnie przeprowadzonych badań empirycznych o charakterze pilotażowym. W kolejnych rozdziałach artykułu autorzy omawiają poszczególne konstrukty składające się na ten model badawczy.

In the article the author presents the technology entrepreneurship construct as a mechanism of strategic organization development. The impact of the technology entrepreneurship phenomenon on organization development is presented on three levels, i.e.: processes, attributes, and results. The strategy of technology entrepreneurship is described theoretically as an alternative to a conservative strategy. Then, in the part concerning the empirical research of the Aviation Valley enterprises in Poland, the author presents the sketches of empirical models of the technology entrepreneurship strategy, based on the methodology of a qualitative case study of comparative nature.

The paper is devoted to the problem of management of technology entrepreneurship. The aim of the paper is to present the most important barriers hindering the activities in the field of technology entrepreneurship of enterprises. In the paper there has been made an attempt to identify the new landscape of innovation and technology entrepreneurship, and there has been presented the results of the empirical studies in this field concerning enterprises of the metal industry of the Silesian Voivodeship. The value of the paper consists in showing the barriers to the implementation of the solutions of technology entrepreneurship of enterprises and the opportunities to support its development based on the minimum viable innovation system.

Artykuł poświęcono problematyce zarządzania przedsiębiorczością technologiczną. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie najistotniejszych barier utrudniających działania z zakresu przedsiębiorczości technologicznej przedsiębiorstw. W artykule podjęto próbę zidentyfikowania nowego krajobrazu innowacji i przedsiębiorczości technologicznej oraz przedstawiono wyniki badań empirycznych z tego zakresu, dotyczące przedsiębiorstw przemysłu metalowego województwa śląskiego. Wartość artykułu polega na ukazaniu barier we wprowadzeniu rozwiązań przedsiębiorczości technologicznej przedsiębiorstw oraz możliwości wspomagania jej rozwoju opartego na systemie minimalnej efektywności.

Technology entrepreneurship is an interesting concept for transforming the potential of the scientific and research and development fields (including a wider impact of the so-called business environment sphere) into innovative products and services. In consequence, it might become a key factor in building the innovation potential of modern enterprises, especially SME sector enterprises, which due to their resource shortages have limited ability to carry out independent research and development operations. Taking the above into account, the aim of the article is to identify and evaluate the role of entrepreneurship in the development of innovativeness of SMEs. To achieve this aim, a survey was conducted on a sample of 300 SMEs based in the łódzkie province.

Przedsiębiorczość technologiczna stanowi interesującą koncepcję przekształcania potencjału sfery nauki oraz badań i rozwoju (z uwzględnieniem szerszego oddziaływania tzw. sfery otoczenia biznesu) w innowacyjne towary i usługi. W konsekwencji stać się może jednym z kluczowych czynników budowania potencjału innowacyjnego współczesnych przedsiębiorstw, co dotyczy szczególnie firm sektora MSP, które ze względu na swoje niedobory zasobowe mają ograniczone możliwości prowadzenia samodzielnej działalności badawczo-rozwojowej. Biorąc to pod uwagę, jako cel artykułu wyznaczono identyfikację i ocenę roli przedsiębiorczości w rozwoju innowacyjności małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw. Realizacji celu pracy poświęcono badania ankietowe przeprowadzone na próbie 300 firm sektora MSP z regionu łódzkiego.

The scientific purpose of the study is an attempted synthesis of the concept of technological entrepreneurship. The cognitive aim of the publication is to present the functionality of an innovative technological solution the uses authorial applications and interactive devices designed and commercialized by the analyzed technology start-up. The application of the empirical method of a case study has made it possible to characterize the essence of technological entrepreneurship and illustrate the progress and development of the studied phenomenon in business practice. The functionality of an innovative multimedia project has been presented as the exemplification of technological entrepreneurship in cooperation between commercial enterprise and business environment institutions. It has been pointed to measurable economic and social outcomes achieved by the company as a result of conscious implementation of the concept of technological entrepreneurship. Case studies in the field of technological entrepreneurship should develop the existing theory and provide explanations of the hitherto unrecognized phenomena. The author proposes the understanding of technological entrepreneurship as a process that combines the elements of academic and intellectual entrepreneurship with the entrepreneurship of commercial organizations implementing new technologies in the market environment. The designed innovative multimedia project supports the management of information for travelers and information regarding fleet management in public transport.

W artykule poddano analizie proces przedsiębiorczości technologicznej na etapie kreowania innowacji produktowej i procesowej oraz tworzenia szans praktycznego wykorzystania tych innowacji.

The purpose of the paper is to discuss the meaning of technology entrepreneurship (which is based on process and product innovation) in creation and development of high technology firms. The concept of technology entrepreneurship which is understood as innovation process and as project of creation and development of organization and as a strategic process is presented in the paper as well. In the paper the technology entrepreneurship process on the stage of creation of both process and product innovation and on the stage of creation of opportunity for practical use of this innovation.

W końcu autor przedstawia model badawczy wpływu przedsiębiorczości technologicznej na efektywność trajektorii rozwojowych organizacji jako syntezę wcześniej dokonanych analiz.

The category of technology entrepreneurship as a development mechanism of high technology organizations is presented in the paper. The phenomenon of technology entrepreneurship is presented in the light of innovation and entrepreneurship management theories, with strong emphasis put on category of technology opportunity. Then the phenomenon of technology entrepreneurship is connected with the development trajectories of organization in accordance with configuration school. In the end the author presents the research model of technology entrepreneurship and effectiveness of organization’s development trajectories which is the synthesis of earlier considerations.

Obydwa zagadnienia mieszczą się w obszarze teorii przedsiębiorczości oraz innowacyjności; ze względu na ich specyfikę zaprezentowano je w świetle podejścia konfiguracyjnego. Zgodnie z tym podejściem przywództwo, strategia, struktura oraz otoczenie to cztery podstawowe obszary składające się na wiązki przedsiębiorczego rozwoju organizacji. Główną tezą pracy jest to, że organizacje wysokich technologii wytwarzają różnorakie konfiguracje przedsiębiorczego rozwoju, które są złożone z mechanizmów przedsiębiorczości oraz twórczości technologicznej.

The categories of technology entrepreneurship and technology creativity as development mechanisms of high-tech organizations are presented in the paper. These phenomena are presented in the light of management science entrepreneurship theory, and in the context of configuration approach to organization. Leadership, strategy, structure and environment are the four basic domains which consitute the mechanism of entrepreneurial organizational development. The main thesis of the article is that high-tech organizations create various configurations of entrepreneurial development that are consisted of technology entrepreneurship and technology creativity mechanisms.

Obecnie o przedsiębiorczości technologicznej, czy akademickiej, mówi się wiele, ale bardzo mało jest opracowań dotyczących szans i zagrożeń dla postrzegania współpracy realizowanej w jej ramach. Celem prezentowanej pracy jest pokazanie ryzyka jakie za sobą niesie współpraca z interesariuszami firm realizujących przedsiębiorczość technologiczną. W badaniach poprzez wykorzystanie analizy czynnikowej dokonano kwalifikacji grup interesariuszy kształtujących w opinii decydentów identyczne lub porównywalne ryzyko współpracy.

Today, technological or academic entrepreneurship says a lot, but there are very few studies on the opportunities and risks for cooperation within these the framework. The aim of this paper is to show that the risks it carries cooperation with stakeholders of companies implementing technological entrepreneurship. In studies through the use of factor analysis has been qualified to groups of stakeholders in shaping opinion makers identical or comparable risks cooperation.

W opracowaniu przedstawiono w postaci casy study czynniki rozwoju przedsiębiorczości technologicznej w spółce funkcjonującej w ramach Wałbrzyskiej Specjalnej Strefy Ekonomicznej. Określono wpływ zewnętrznych i wewnętrznych uwarunkowań specjalnej strefy ekonomicznej na kształtowanie przedsięwzięć technologicznych. Zidentyfikowano przejawy przedsiębiorczości technologicznej w omawianej spółce i jednocześnie zaproponowano kierunki jej dalszego rozwoju.

The paper presents a case study of the factors of technological entrepreneurship in the company functioning in the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone. The influence of external and internal conditions of the special economic zone for the development of technology businesses has been determined. Manifestations of technological entrepreneurship have been identified in this company and at the same time directions for its further development have been suggested.

Technology entrepreneurship as a process of ensuring greater practical usefulness to results of scientific research by means of efficient cooperation between science and technology sphere and commercial sphere, can be conducive to increase in technological innovativeness, contemporariness and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises. Internal environment of these entities, external environment and interactions between these two spheres influence the process of its creation in enterprises belonging to SME sector. The article presents the role of external environment in creating technology entrepreneurship in SMEs. Particular attention is paid to the role of networks between enterprises and business support institutions that fulfil significant functions in the process of development of technology entrepreneurship.

Na proces jej kreowania w firmach sektora MSP ma wpływ zarówno środowisko wewnętrzne tych podmiotów, otoczenie zewnętrzne, jak również interakcje zachodzące między tymi dwoma strefami. W artykule przedstawiono rolę środowiska zewnętrznego w kreowaniu przedsiębiorczości technologicznej w małych i średnich firmach. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na rolę powiązań sieciowych pomiędzy przedsiębiorstwami a instytucjami składającymi się na otoczenie biznesu, pełniącymi istotne funkcje w procesie rozwoju przedsiębiorczości technologicznej.
