Purpose: This article aims to explore users' willingness to share with others and relinquish ownership. It also investigates whether these attitudes notably impact the adoption of shared carpooling and the imperative to preserve natural resources in the environment. Design/methodology/approach: This research was conducted through a survey questionnaire among users of social networks that focus on shared travel, ecology, anthropological climate change and the environment. Findings: 'Residence' impacts the inclination to share and relinquish ownership for environmental conservation. Conversely, 'gender' and 'age' don't significantly affect consumer attitudes. Acceptance of carpooling hinges on 'ease', 'usefulness', and 'economic value'for those open to sharing. Additionally, 'perceived development' matters for those willing to forgo ownership. Conservation concerns arise among advocates of 'sustainable consumption', 'eco-friendly business practices', and 'alternative' options in carpooling. Giving up ownership ties to both 'sustainable consumption' and 'social-economic attitudes' aligned with resource conservation. Research limitations/implications: The research focused on two attitudes affecting consumer behavior in terms of acceptance of carpooling transportation and the need to protect environmental natural resources. Therefore, it is necessary to study further the reasons that confirm the validity of carpooling activities and the particular need to care for the environment. Practical and social implications: The findings underscore the importance of advocating for sharing and relinquishing ownership to safeguard natural resources. Heightened awareness and comprehension of the repercussions of personal choices in business and social spheres are crucial. This article significantly contributes to the movement toward conserving natural resources by advocating for thrifty and health-conscious lifestyles, along with conscientious and effective resource utilization. Originality/value: The article provides an understanding of the reasons for accepting carpooling transportation and the need to protect natural resources. It highlights the significance of collaborative efforts that yield benefits for both people and the environment.

Gospodarka odpadami komunalnymi wymaga dostosowania wymogów krajowych do dyrektyw unijnych, zwłaszcza dotyczących przestrzegania tzw. hierarchii gospodarki odpadami.

Municipal waste management requires national regulations to be adapted to the provisions of EU directives, especially in respect of the so-called waste management hierarchy. Segregation, recycling and raw material recovery, including energy recovery from waste, receive special attention in waste management. In particular, recovery of high-energy fractions from the municipal waste stream may constitute a potential substitute energy source for co-combustion with fossil fuels. This brings measurable environmental effects in terms of climate protection as carbon dioxide emissions from industrial installations in the biomass recovery process are considered as zero. Further, it serves diversifi cation of energy sources, saves the natural resources and eliminates the need for landfi ll storage of high-calorifi c waste in large amounts. In Poland, co-combustion of refuse-derived fuels (RDF) is carried out in cement plants on a wide scale. In order to meet the cement market demand, nearly 200 RDF producers emerged and currently there is a signifi cant RDF overproduction in relation to the real demand. There are still formal and technical barriers that prevent RDF combustion in the power sector and district heating, while it has already been successfully implemented in the highly developed countries. The paper investigates selected legal and technical aspects that hinder RDF usage outside the cement industry.

This article presents results of analysis and findings incorporated in „Contextual analysis of the economic development of Kolobrzeg” allowing for a variety of economic activity and investments in the mining area of Mirocice, with the consideration of their potential impact on water in peatlands. The analysis incorporates description of the natural resources, exisiting and planned development of these resources and areas within its vicinity, as well as potential impact from exisiting facilities and current plans for development. The facilities have been assigned three possible levels of risk to water in peatlands: potentially high, potentially low and no risk. The areas dedicated to storage and production functions pose a potnetially high level of risk. Aside from their direct impact, they will also indirectly dirve higtened traffic by heavy trucks as well as heavy loads carried by rail. The areas dedicated to mulifamily living units, especially when accompanied by well designed infrastructure and not too densly populated, pose a potentially low level of risk. The green areas, excluded from other urban or economic development, pose no risk to water in peatlands. The current state of research around water in peatlands and its surrounding areas is insufficient. Appropriate preservation of water in peatlands necessaitates interedsciplinary research and regular monitoring which will outline the current state of the peatlands’ resources, point out actual risks and provide direction for preservation of these natural resources. Finally, this work also highlights social conflicts that emerged during our research.
