Rapid evaluation method of subgrade performance using Portable Falling Weight Deflectometer

The performance evaluation of new and old subgrades is critical for the quality and safety of reconstruction and extension projects. It is necessary to achieve rapid and easy performance testing. In this study, a Portable Falling Weight Deflectometer (PFWD) is chosen to rapid evaluate the performance of subgrade. First, a testing area, the reconstruction and expansion project of the Hefei to Dagudian section of the Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway, is selected. Then, the PFWD modulus Ep of resilient tested by PFWD and the corresponding water content w and compacting degree K tested by the cutting ring method for old subgrade are obtained. And the correlation relationship between Ep and w and K is established. The performance of old subgrade can be rapid obtained by PFWD. Meanwhile, for the new subgrade, the correlation relationship between Ep and bending value L, w and K is established, and the performance can also be rapid tested by PFWD. Finally, a rapid evaluation method for the reconstruction and expansion of subgrade performance was proposed, which aims to provide technical support for ensuring construction quality and safety and provides a technical reference and a theoretical basis for the prediction of similar subgrade performance.

Artykuł jest wynikiem kontynuacji badań nad stanem zachowania krakowskiego pałacu w Łobzowie po zniszczeniach z 1655 roku i związkami obiektu z osobą Jana III Sobieskiego. Istniejące, nieliczne źródła historyczne potwierdzają, że król zaangażował się w odbudowę letniej rezydencji, po to, by umieścić w niej swoją rodzinę w czasie odsieczy wiedeńskiej. Po badaniach dotyczących odtworzenia skali przeobrażeń pałacu oraz jego nowego kształtu nadanego z inicjatywy Sobieskiego rozpoczęto kwerendę archiwaliów związanych z osobami architektów króla oraz podjęto się analizy źródeł historycznych dotyczących życia zawodowego i prywatnego tych twórców, ich związków z królem, Krakowem i Łobzowem. Przeprowadzono także analizę dorobku projektowego oraz umiejętności i zainteresowań projektowo-budowlanych wybranych artystów celem wskazania najbardziej prawdopodobnego kandydata na autora projektu odbudowy oraz przekształceń pałacu łobzowskiego.

This article is a result of continued research on the state of preservation of the Palace in Łobzow, Krakow, after the damage it suffered in 1655 and its associations with the person of Jan III Sobieski. The few existing historical sources confirm that the King was involved in rebuilding the summer residence in order to put his family there during the relief of Vienna. After the research concerning recreating the scale of transformation in the palace and its new shape initiated by Sobieski, a preliminary research of archive materials relating to the King’s architects was undertaken, as well as an analysis of historical sources concerning their professional and private life, their connection to the King, Krakow and Łobzow. An analysis of project achievements, skills and project-building interests of the selected artists was also carried out in order to indicate the most likely candidate for the author of the project of the reconstruction and transformation of the Łobzow palace.

Przedstawiono zniszczenia budynków oraz infrastruktury podziemnej WTC spowodowane atakami terrorystycznymi 11 września 2001 roku. Opisano usuwanie zniszczeń. Przypomniano historię wznoszenia i naprawę ścian "wanny" WTC. Omówiono dwa projekty odbudowy WTC, które znalazły się w finale światowego konkursu, w tym wybrany do realizacji projekt Libenskida ,,The Memory Foundations".

The damages of substructure and superstructure of WTC, caused by the terrorist attacks on September 11.2001 are presented. The removal of debris, the history of erection and recovery affords of WTC ,,bathtub" are described. Two conceptual designs for the WTC site under final consideration are mentioned: the first one by THINK team led by B. Shigeru and second one by Studio Daniel Libeskind. The finally selected as design for the WTC site "THE MEMORY FOUNDATION" by D. Libeskind is presented.
