Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przybliżenie specyfiki realizacji inwestycji budowlanej biorąc pod uwagę szereg cech determinujących tego rodzaju przedsięwzięcia. W publikacji przybliżono uwarunkowania wynikające zarówno z obowiązujących przepisów (w tym dotyczących realizacji ze środków publicznych), jak i cech organizacyjnych oraz technicznych, a także uwarunkowań ekonomicznych. Poprzez całościowe przedstawienie najistotniejszych elementów, wskazano najważniejsze cechy wpływające na odmienności realizacji inwestycji budowlanych od innych projektów.

The purpose of this paper is to present the specifics of the implementation of a construction project taking into account a number of characteristics that determine this type of undertaking. The publication describes conditions resulting both from the existing legislation (including the implementation using public funds) as well as organizational and technical features together with economic conditions. Through a holistic approach and comprehensive presentation of the most important elements, the key features were identified that affect the diversity and difference of the construction project implementation from other projects.

The paper outlines the origin of the E. 2 772! project from the EUREKA group of European projects. Justification of undertaking the subject is given as well as the structure of institutional performers constituting the project executive consortium. Characterised is the final result in the form of preliminary designs of four modern ecological Baltic short shipping vessels: container carrier, product tanker, ro-ro ship and river-sea type ship. Comprehensive bibliography contains a list of all the project reports, which may be made available to the interested parties after a contact with the project coordinator. The paper opens a series of topical papers selected from the different problems dealt with in the project.
