In academic education, a method called Project-Based Learning is becoming increasingly popular. Its essence is that students acquire competence and knowledge through independent project work, with only mentoring by the teacher or teachers. At the Silesian University of Technology, this method has been implemented for several years. The authors of this article, representing various industries: architecture, construction and installations, have undertaken with students and invited experts on the topic of redesigning the existing industrial hall for Industry 4.0. The Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology, which is systematically implemented in design offices, but still rarely used at universities, was used for design works. Students developed a given project to analyze the advantages and difficulties of implementing BIM technology into the design in the domain of inter-branch cooperation.

W edukacji akademickiej coraz popularniejsza staje się metoda zwana Project-Based Learning. Jej istotą jest to, że studenci nabywają kompetencje i wiedzę przez samodzielną pracę projektową, jedynie pod opieką nauczyciela lub nauczycieli. Na Politechnice Śląskiej metoda ta jest wdrażana od kilku lat. Autorzy niniejszego artykułu, reprezentujący różne branże: architektoniczną, budowlaną i instalacyjną, podjęli wraz ze studentami i zaproszonymi ekspertami temat przeprojektowania istniejącej hali przemysłowej dla Przemysłu 4.0. Do prac projektowych wykorzystano technologię Modelowania informacji o budynku (BIM), która jest systematycznie wdrażana w biurach projektowych, ale wciąż rzadko stosowana na uczelniach. Studenci opracowali zadany projekt, aby przeanalizować zalety i trudności zastosowania metody BIM do projektowania w zakresie współpracy międzybranżowej.

The paper presents a new second-cycle Electronics and Telecommunications study program that has been running in Lodz University of Technology since 2020. The concept of the program uses the Project Based Learning approach and it is based on three main projects implemented throughout the curriculum. The inspiration was the programs of three foreign universities and extensive research of various groups of stakeholders. The initial evaluation of the program first semester proves high acceptance and satisfaction of the students.

Artykuł zawiera wnioski z analizy formuł: RBD (Research by Design) oraz PBL (Project Based Learning) jako podstawowej metody kształcenia w celu rozpoznania możliwości kształtowania przestrzeni w obszarze opracowania, wykorzystanych w ramach prowadzonych prac naukowo-badawczych. Opisuje rezultaty zastosowania obu metod w przeprowadzonych badaniach nad możliwościami formułowania nowych wskazań do kształtowania systemów przyrodniczych w zdegradowanym środowisku przyrodniczym województwa śląskiego. Badania przeprowadzono w latach 2015-2020 dla miast: Orzesze, Rybnik oraz Jastrzębie-Zdrój. Koncentrowały się one na środowiskowych problemach: integracji obszarów centralnych miast, ciągłości istniejących powiązań przyrodniczych (w tym korytarzy ekologicznych), komunikacyjnych i funkcjonalnych, a także zachowania zasad ładu przestrzennego, zróżnicowania funkcji oraz możliwości przyjmowania nowych funkcji przez obszary zdegradowane.

The article contains conclusions from the analysis of the formulas: RBD (Research by Design) and PBL (Project Based Learning) as the basic method of educating members of the young creative class, used to recognize the possibilities of shaping space in the area of development, used in the course of research and development. Describes the results of applying both methods in the research on the possibilities of formulating new indications for shaping natural systems in the degraded natural environment of the Silesian Voivodeship. The research was carried out in 2015-2020 for the cities of Orzesze, Rybnik and Jastrzębie Zdrój. They focused on environmental problems: integration of central city areas, continuity of the existing natural (including ecological corridors), communication and functional connections, as well as maintaining the principles of spatial order and differentiation of functions, and the possibility of assuming new functions by degraded areas.
