In recent years increased interest in raw materials of biological origin have been observed. These products, including energy carriers, are perceived as friendly to the natural environment and human health, therefore societies with high ecological awareness have often chosen such products increasingly. In the oil and energy sector some factors stimulating the development of such products may also be distinguished. The main usage of resources of biological origin, was briefly discussed in the article. Legal, and technological aspects, as well as interaction with the environment of biomass being a part of RES (Renewable Energy Sources), were also presented.

W ostatnich latach obserwuje się zwiększenie zainteresowania surowcami pochodzenia biologicznego. Produkty te, włączając nośniki energii, są postrzegane jako przyjazne dla środowiska naturalnego i zdrowia człowieka. Dlatego też społeczeństwa o wysokiej świadomości ekologicznej wybierają takie produkty coraz częściej. Również w sektorze naftowym i energetycznym można wyróżnić pewne czynniki stymulujące rozwój takich produktów. W artykule przedyskutowano główne zastosowania surowców pochodzenia biologicznego. Przedstawiono również prawne i technologiczne aspekty a także i interakcję ze środowiskiem naturalnym biomasy będącej częścią OZE (Odnawialne Źródła Energii).

W artykule omówiono prowadzone obecnie w Europejskim Komitecie Normalizacyjnym (CEN) i w Polskim Komitecie Normalizacyjnym (PKN) prace normalizacyjne dotyczące identyfikacji produktów pochodzenia biologicznego oraz oceny biokomponentów i biopaliw na zgodność z kryteriami zrównoważonego rozwoju. Zagadnieniami tymi w CEN zajmują się komitety techniczne CEN/TC 383 Sustainably produced biomass for energy applications i CEN/TC 411 Bio-based products. W związku z implementacją przez Rząd Polski dyrektywy RED odnoszącej się do promowania stosowania energii ze źródeł odnawialnych i dyrektywy FQD odnoszącej się do specyfikacji benzyny i olejów napędowych oraz wprowadzającej mechanizm monitorowania i ograniczania emisji gazów cieplarnianych, a także wprowadzaniem odpowiednich ustaw, niezbędnym będzie powołanie w kraju systemu certyfikacji na spełnienie przez biokomponenty i biopaliwa kryteriów zrównoważonego rozwoju. W wyniku tego wszystkie podmioty uczestniczące w produkcji biokomponentów i biopaliw zobowiązane będą do uzyskania certyfikatów zgodności. W artykule przedstawiono możliwości włączenia się do prac normalizacyjnych, zarówno w ramach współpracy europejskiej, jak i w obszarze normalizacji krajowej.

The article discusses the standardization work, currently being carried out by the Comite Europeen de Normalisation (CEN) and by the Polish Committee for Standardization (PKN), concerning the identification of products of biological origin and the evaluation of bio-components and biofuels in compliance with the criteria for sustainable development. These issues deal with the CEN technical committees CEN/TC 383 Sustainably produced biomass for energy applications and CEN/TC 411 Bio-based products. The introduction of appropriate legislation would be necessary for the establishment of a certification system in the country to meet the bio-components and biofuel sustainability criteria, in connection with the implementation by the Polish Government of Directive RED on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources and Directive FQD relating to the specification of petrol and diesel fuels as well as introducing a mechanism to monitor and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As a result, all producers involved in the production of bio and biofuels will be required to obtain certificates of compliance. According to the standardization procedures all stakeholders have varying possibilities to join the standardization process, both within the framework of European cooperation: delegating experts to work in working groups (WG), CEN/TC, delegating representatives to meetings of the Technical Committees of CEN/TC, as well as the national standardization: through participation in the evaluation of documents in the public inquiry and by participating in the relevant technical bodies of the Polish Committee for Standardization. The article presents possibilities of participation in the standardization process.
