W artykule opisano zasadnicze cele, jakie postawiono w projekcie ULSAB-AVC. Przedstawiono kierunki prac badawczych nad rozwojem blach tłocznych dla przemysłu samochodowego. Omówiono klasyfikację stali na blachy tłoczne i scharakteryzowano grupę nowoczesnych stali AHSS. Przedstawiono, zawarte w aktualnie realizowanym projekcie USLAB-AVC, propozycje doboru stali na elementy karoserii samochodów klasy C i klasy PNGV przewidzianych do produkcji po 2004 roku.

The main lines of research on development of sheets for automotive industry are presented. The classification of steel types for sheet forming is discussed and the advanced high strength steels (AHSS) are characterized. There are also presented the ULSAB-A VC Program proposals for a selection of steel grades for the body structure components of the C-Class and PNGV-Class vehicles that will be made after 2004. The ULSAB-A VC Program is currently in progress and considers those steels that are currently available and those that will become available in the nearest future.
