W artykule przedstawiono perspektywy przyszłych kierunków badań mających na celu optymalizację procesu spalania węgla. Nowe nurty w dziedzinie energetyki koncentrują się na zwiększeniu zrównoważonego wykorzystania zasobów węgla, minimalizacji negatywnego wpływu na środowisko oraz rozwoju bardziej wydajnych i ekologicznych rozwiązań w produkcji energii. Wśród omawianych kierunków działań należy wskazać dobór jakościowy i ilościowy katalizatora procesu spalania, sposób jego efektywnego dostarczenia do transportowanego pyłu węglowego, automatyzacje procesu ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem metod sterowania, kontroli i wizualizacji. Mimo mnogości prac teoretyków i praktyków dotyczących tego zagadnienia wciąż istnieje przestrzeń do dalszych ulepszeń oraz znaczących rozszerzeń w zakresie danych dostępnych dla naukowców i inżynierów. Węgiel nadal odgrywa kluczową rolę, jako najbardziej stabilne źródło energii, co podkreśla jego istotność w kontekście zapewnienia niezawodności dostaw energii.

The article presents perspectives on future research directions aimed at optimizing the coal combustion process. Emerging trends in the field of energy focus on increasing the sustainable utilization of coal resources, minimizing negative environmental impacts, and developing more efficient and environmentally fiiendly energy production solutions. Among the discussed areas of action, it is important to highlight the qualitative and quantitative selection of combustion process cata lysts, the effective delivery of catalysts to transported coal dust, and the automation of the process with a focus on control, monitoring, and Visualization methods. Despite the abundance of work by theorists and practitioners on this issue, there is still room for further improvements and significant expansions in the scope of data available to scientists and engineers. Coal continues to play a crucial role as the most stable source of energy, underscoring its importance in ensuring energy supply reliability.

Praca przedstawia zagadnienie dotyczące pomiaru i analizy zużycia energii w trakcie cyklu wiercenia termicznego. Przedstawiono oparte na tokarce CNC stanowisko badawcze, którego elementem wyposażenia był eksperymentalny układ poboru energii oparty o licznik energii elektrycznej oraz siłomierz. Zastosowane urządzenia pomiarowe pozwalały na rejestrację obciążenia sieci energetycznej, obciążenia napędów obrabiarki, siłę osiową, moment hamujący wiertło, aktualne obroty wrzeciona obrabiarki, pozycję wiertła względem obrabianego materiału i wartości rejestrów parametrów pomocniczych w strategii adaptacyjnego sterowania posuwem. Rozważano dwa przypadki cyklu wiercenia: wykonanie pojedynczego otworu oraz wykonanie szeregu otworów w jednym cyklu. Testowano pięć strategii sterowania posuwem w trakcie cyklu wiercenia, w tym adaptacyjne sterowanie posuwem i rekurencyjną metodę optymalizacji posuwu. Dla porównania wykonano także otwory tradycyjnymi wiertłami krętymi HSS. Na podstawie uzyskanych rezultatów badań można stwierdzić, że metoda wiercenia ciernego może być zaliczona do energooszczędnych metod wykonywania otworów w elementach cienkościennych.

The work presents the issue of measuring and analyzing energy consumption during a thermal drilling cycle. A research stand based on a CNC lathe was presented, the equipment of which was an experimental energy consumption system based on an electricity meter and a force gauge. The measuring devices used allowed for recording the load on the power grid, the load on the machine tool drives, the axial force, the drill braking torque, the current rotation of the machine tool spindle, the position of the drill in relation to the workpiece and the values of auxiliary parameter registers in the strategy of adaptive feed control. Two cases of a drilling cycle were considered: making a single hole and making a series of holes in one cycle. Five feed control strategies were tested during the drilling cycle, including adaptive feed control and a recursive feed optimization method. For comparison, holes were also made with traditional HSS twist drills. Based on the obtained test results, it can be concluded that the friction drilling method can be included in the energy-saving methods of making holes in thin-walled elements.

Quality profiling seeks to know the quality characteristics of products and processes to improve customer satisfaction and business competitiveness. It is required to develop new techniques and tools that upgrade and complement the traditional analysis of process variables. This article proposes a new methodology to model quality control of the process and product quality characteristics by applying optimization and simulation tools. The application in the production process of carbonated beverages allowed us to identify the most influential variables on the gas content and the degrees Brix of beverage.

One of the main limitations of additive manufacturing (AM) technologies consists in the relatively low build rate. Low productivity discourages companies from investing in AM machines, thus limiting the market of additive technologies. Machine manufacturers have introduced new solutions to their designs to increase the build rate, some of them are described in this paper. However, design improvements are not the only method to accelerate the process. The paper specifies factors that influence the build rate in the laser powder bed fusion process and provides an analytical assessment and comparison of the significance of how they affect its productivity. The influence that a change in selected parameters has on the process and the influence of multi-laser systems on its productivity are analysed in terms of the melted material quality. The processes from which the data for analysis were obtained were carried out on an SLM 280 machine with single- and dual-laser versions as well as on an SLM 500 with four lasers. Two types of samples, solid and thin-walled, both of the same volume, were tested. The data under analysis were the process times for both geometries, manufactured with different sets of parameters from the adopted range. Processing times were analysed to determine the main effects and interaction effects for extreme values of a given parameter. The height of the melted powder layer had the greatest influence on the build rate, which turned out to be greater even than the application of a two-laser system.

Purpose: This publication focuses on issues related to logistics management. The aim of this publication is to show the possibility of creating a logistics center within logistic networks. Design/methodology/approach: This publication uses a conceptual method based on observations, sales forecasts and distance analysis of logistics centers. Findings: The analysis of the collected and presented data as part of the concept of creating a logistics center Lviv-Rzeszów shows that such an action is justified, in particular in economic terms. The study shows that the optimization of processes as part of the implementation of the concept would allow for many benefits for the economy and regional development, as well as for the transport and logistics industry itself. Research Limitation/implication: During the study, there were limitations related to obtaining empirical data. The most important implication of the study is the statement that the planned investment will bring significant benefits to entrepreneurs and other market stakeholders. Originality/Value of paper: The publication showed the possibilities of using the new logistics center Lviv-Rzeszów and its impact regional and business development.

Purpose: The aim of this article is to present selected research results in the field of optimization of energy cogeneration processes of heating systems based on biogas sources, in terms of the possibility of obtaining ecological and energy benefits in the municipal area. Design/methodology/approach: The considerations are a case study, including an analysis of the choice of the optimal variant of agricultural biogas construction in the Łobez Municipality in the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship from the point of view of both the substrate used in biogas and the proposed technological solutions. The subject matter focuses on comparing the estimated ecological effect of biogas with different powers and choosing the optimal model solution. The research process used secondary and statistical data and the selected comparative method to calculate the carbon dioxide emission reduction factor. Findings: The authors indicate which technology of obtaining energy should be dominant in the field of optimization of energy cogeneration processes of heating systems in Poland in areas dominated by agricultural economy. Research limitations/implications: The presented research concerns the assessment of one of the parameters (substrate used in biogas) affecting the optimization of biogas production. Future research in this area should focus on the assessment of other factors determining the validity of the discussed solutions in relation to the adopted state policy in the field of development of renewable energy sources and agricultural economy. Practical implications: The results of the research are the first approach to indicate the government and regional administration the type of energy that may form the basis of the future strategy of changes in the field of energy cogeneration of heating systems in municipal and agricultural areas in Poland. Social implications: The description of the agricultural biogas model, which served as an example, can be helpful in the process of identifying benefits not only for the environment but also as an element stimulating economic and social development at the local and regional level. Originality/value: An experimental research approach may be helpful in understanding the essence of optimization of energy congregation processes of heating systems based on biogas sources in selected areas of Poland.

Sustainable development is an very important idea nowadays and it influences on many factors. It is very important to focus on the goals of sustainable development and implement them both in industry and in everyday life. The aim of the article is to analyse the impact of implementing an automatic conveyor belt transport system between the stands of an exemplary assembly line on sustainable development in economic and environmental terms. The analyzed production process consists of one production line with six assembly stations. The efficiency of individual design solutions and electricity consumption were adopted as the evaluation criteria. To compare the two processes, a simulation analysis was performed in the Plant Simulation program. First chapter is the introduction to the article. The second chapter describes the current applications of simulation tests. The third chapter describes the production system that is improved by adding conveyors. The next chapter compares the processes with and without the use of conveyors and presents how much energy must be used additionally by imple-menting conveyor belts, but also what energy savings can be obtained by installing additional stop sensors. The fifth chapter presents the conclusions: the conducted research allowed concluding that the implementation of conveyor belts affects a higher number of finished products at the same time as the transport of components is manual. However, the best solution is to use conveyors with stop sensors, and the power consumption is then low and more profitable for the enterprise.

Wykorzystanie metod projektowania eksperymentów oraz optymalizacji operacji jednostkowych znajduje coraz większe zastosowanie w dziedzinie inżynierii chemicznej, z powodu coraz większego zapotrzebowania na tworzenie racjonalnych i zrównoważonych procesów technologicznych. Inżynier procesowy, dzięki nowoczesnym modelom obliczeniowym, może z powodzeniem zaimplementować planowanie eksperymentu już na wczesnym etapie prac z zakresu badań i rozwoju oraz optymalizacji całych procesów technologicznych, uzyskując założone cele w znacznie krótszym czasie. Przedstawiono zarys kryteriów postępowania przy planowaniu i optymalizacji procesów oraz opis powszechnie stosowanych modeli optymalizacyjnych wraz z ich porównaniem.

Rosnąca liczba artykułów i badań dotyczących zarządzania wiedzą ukazuje coraz większą liczbę powiązanych zagadnień. Celem artykułu jest próba identyfikacji, integracji i klasyfikacji tych zagadnień, prezentując je jako schemat kategorii i grup. Jako narzędzie zastosowano analizę tekstową dla 1,431 artykułów, spośród których wyodrębnionych zostało 3,379 unikalnych słów kluczy. Źródłem próbki była wyszukiwarka jednego wydawcy SCOPUS. Otrzymany schemat klasyfikacji zawiera 101 unikalnych grup słów kluczy, zawartych w 7 głównych kategoriach. Opracowane kategorie stworzono z myślą o zarządzaniu wiedzą wewnątrz przedsiębiorstwa (z punktu widzenia procesów). Należy je traktować jako punkt startowy do dalszej analizy, która pokrywałaby obszar na zewnątrz przedsiębiorstwa, tj. współpraca z zewnętrznymi instytucjami, innowacyjność w korporacjach międzynarodowych. Schemat jest przydatny w zakresie rozpoznania, czy elementy w nim zawarte są częścią oceny zarządzania wiedzą wśród procesów zachodzących w organizacjach.

A growing number of articles and research on knowledge management reveal an increasing number of related topics. The article attempts to identify, integrate and classify knowledge attributes, presenting them as a diagram of categories and groups. As a tool, text analysis was used for 1,431 articles, out of which 3,379 unique keywords were extracted. The source of the sample was the search engine of one publisher SCOPUS. The resulting classification scheme contains 101 unique groups of keywords, contained in 7 main categories. The developed categories were created for knowledge management within the company (from the point of view of processes). They should be treated as a starting point for further analysis, which would cover the area outside the enterprise, i.e. cooperation with external institutions, innovation in international corporations. The schema is useful for recognizing whether the elements it contains are part of the knowledge management assessment of processes in organizations.

W artykule scharakteryzowano operację przypawania kołków – powszechnie stosowaną w przemyśle maszynowym, gdyż jest to jedna z najprostszych oraz najszybszych metod łączenia detali. Wykorzystanie tej metody umożliwia przypawanie takich elementów jak: śruby, kołki, gwoździe lub nakrętki. Niewątpliwą jej zaletą jest to, że przypawanie elementów do produkowanych detali nie wymaga wykonywania żadnych otworów. W artykule zaprezentowano także – na dwóch praktycznych przykładach – sposoby optymalizacji procesu produkcyjnego, w którym stosowano przypawanie ostrzowe kołków w aspekcie skrócenia czasu produkcji.

In the paper the operation of pinning was characterized - commonly used in the machine-building industry, because it is one of the simplest and fastest methods of joining elements. The use of this method makes it possible to pin such elements as: screws, pins, nails or nuts. Its unquestionable advantage is that there is no need to drill holes to attach elements to the manufactured parts. This paper presents also - on the basis of two practical examples the ways to optimize the production process in which the pin pinning was used in the aspect of shortening the production time.

In this paper, the structure and operational functions of a measurement system, which was installed on a 3-axis CNC lathe for monitoring and optimization of the cutting process are presented. In general, the system records signals of the components of the resultant cutting force, acceleration signals (cutting vibrations) and EFM force signals generated for various machining conditions employed. As a result, the total power consumed was determined. The generated data were archived in the expert system which supports the optimization of the cutting process in terms of various optimization criteria including power/energy consumption.

W artykule przedstawiono budowę i funkcje eksploatacyjne układu pomiarowego, który został zainstalowany na 3-osiowej tokarce CNC w celu monitorowania i optymalizacji procesu skrawania. System rejestruje sygnały składowych wypadkowej siły skrawania, sygnały przyspieszenia (drgania skrawania) oraz sygnały siły EFM generowane dla różnych zastosowanych warunków obróbki. W rezultacie określono całkowitą pobieraną moc. Wygenerowane dane zostały zarchiwizowane w systemie ekspertowym, który wspiera optymalizację procesu cięcia pod kątem różnych kryteriów optymalizacji, w tym poboru mocy / energii.

The digitalization of modern manufacturing systems has resulted to increasing data generation, also known as Big Data. Although there are several technologies and techniques under the term Data Analytics for gathering such data, their interpretation to information, and ultimately to knowledge remains in its infancy. Consequently, albeit engineers currently can monitor the factory level, optimization is cut off of the data acquisition, and is based on data related methodologies. The focus should be pivoted on designing and developing suitable frameworks for integrating Big Data to process optimization based on the context of information gathered from the shopfloor. This paper aims to investigate the opportunities and the gaps as well as the challenges arising in the current industrial landscape, towards the efficient utilization of Big Data, for process optimization based on the integration of semantics. To that end, a literature review is performed, and a data-based framework is presented.

In today’s production and service systems, the management process plays a primary role. Analysis of the management process allows the detection of weaknesses and strengths in analyzed systems. This paper analyses production line management processes. For one literature example, a queuing model of a selected production line was built, and its performance and reliability were analyzed. The modelling attempt undertaken here was designed to determine whether queuing theory is suitable for modelling production line processes. Confirmation of this thesis would be a novelty in this field.

Production companies face the challenge of choosing a suitable process optimization method from a variety of methods, even though their effect on operational processes is uncertain. This study shows, using a statistical hypothesis test, the impact of the methods Kanban and Standard Worksheet on an autonomous team in comparison to a team that applies these methods. For this purpose, 44 companies – of different size and operating in various industries – across Germany completed a business game and generated data regarding the KPIs adherence to delivery date, number of reworks and inventory costs. Based on these data, the team’s performance could be ascertained and compared with each other.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie najczęściej spotykanych problemów przedsiębiorstw w kwestii organizacji procesu transportu wewnętrznego oraz wskazanie rozwiązania, za pomocą którego możliwa jest ich optymalizacja. W pracy zwrócono uwagę na korzyści płynące z implementacji wózków AGV oraz możliwości ich wdrożenia w oparciu o praktyczne przykłady. Przeanalizowano również różnice dostrzeżone w tradycyjnym procesie kompletacji oraz wspartym opisywaną technologią.

The aim of the article is to present the most common problems faced by enterprises in terms of organizing their internal transport processes and to indicate a solution to make this optimization possible. The study highlights the benefits of implementing AGV trucks and the possibility of deploying such a solution based on practical examples. The differences apparent in the traditional picking process and process supported by the described technology were also discussed.

Spent catalysts being considered hazardous wastes exhibit a high metal content in mobile forms. In addition, growing demand for circular economy policy applications requires proper utilization of these wastes. This study aimed at the assessment of vanadium leaching from spent desulfurization catalyst derived from sulfuric acid plant dump located nearby a copper smelter. Chemical and phase composition of the catalyst has been characterized. The extraction has been performed using chemical (0.1-M and 1-M citric acid) and biological (biotic solution with Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans) methods, using different experimental parameters (pulp density, particle size, leaching time) to observe V leaching behavior and kinetics. The results revealed that both citric acid and bacteria carried out the extraction process well. The optimal parameters for acid leaching were < 0.2-mm particle size and 2% pulp density, which allowed to leach out 95% of V from spent catalyst within 48 h. The bacterially mediated extraction resulted in 93% V leached out within 21 days with 2% pulp density. The experiments showed that V present in the catalyst is susceptible to bioleaching and organic acid leaching with the latter being a quicker process.

The article presents the essence of the method of value stream mapping on the example of a selected production process in an automotive company. The analysis presented in the paper concerned the indication of potential organizational possibilities of actions aimed at implementing changes in the organization based on the results of measuring the process with the use of the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) indicator. All stages of the production process were explained, which allowed to obtain the results of the process efficiency analyses. Further on, the results of the analysis of process improvement in accordance with the PDCA approach are discussed. The significance of establishing the method in order to improve the functioning of the process and the meaning and usage of the value stream mapping methodology in building successful relations with the end customer were emphasized. The undertaken activities constitute a research gap defined as follows: the effectiveness of management methods in an organization depends on the efficiency of using the applied indicators and reacting to changes. Thus, defining models with potential application capabilities in order to increase management effectiveness is one of the most important issues in the area of enterprise organization.

Opracowano polimorficzny model reaktora biologicznego z logiczną reprezentacją wiedzy o obiekcie sterowania i sterowaniu, dla których proces uczenia się polega na sukcesywnej walidacji i uaktualnianiu wiedzy oraz wykorzystywaniu wyników tego uaktualniania do wyznaczania decyzji sterujących. Na podstawie ciągłego pomiaru stężenia fosforu (jako PO4-P) określono ładunki fosforu jako iloczyn przepływu i stężenia. Różnicę pomiędzy fosforem całkowitym a PO4-P określono empirycznie zgodnie z klasyczną analityką. Zastosowany system sterowania, poza efektem energetycznym, pozwalał również na optymalizację.

An advanced model for the optimization of the title processes was developed by using a multi-threaded predictive control system. The activated sludge method was used in 2 biol. reactors, where denitrification and nitrification and removal of org. C compds. and dephosphatation took place. A sewage aeration and movement in bioreactors was generated by using agitators or sludge recirculation. The computer model of the wastewater treatment plant was developed in a com. environment. An activated sludge model was used to model biochem. processes, including org. C and N removal and transformations involving bacteria using the ability to store P in cell biomass. Then, quantitative and qualitative parameters were identified and the model was calibrated by det. the agreement of simulation results with measured data.

Referat przedstawia analizę zmiany jednostek transportowych ze zwykłych palet na palety poolingowe wykorzystywane w transporcie towarów i dóbr. Autorzy referatu dostrzegają ogromny potencjał w wykorzystaniu zamkniętych poolingów paletowych jako rozwiązania, które oferuje zarówno dostawcom jak i odbiorcom szereg zalet m.in. zagwarantowaną wysoką jakość nośników. W celu określenia opłacalności zastosowania zamkniętych poolingów paletowych w danym przedsiębiorstwie autorzy referatu dokonali pomiarów w jednym z magazynów firmy XYZ z branży FMCG, porównując czasy procesów magazynowych przy użyciu palet „białych” - obecnie wykorzystywanych w magazynie oraz palet z zamkniętych poolingów paletowych.

In order to determine profitability, thesuggested solutions the authors made measurements in one of the warehouse company from the FMCG industry. The authors compared the times of operations using existing pallets and pallets from closed pallets pools.
