The objective of the research is to give a more explicit mathematical statement of "the aircraft stabilization problem". First, the relationships between flight stability and automatic control are presented. Second, the important role of basic notion of the stabilization problem to analyze aircraft motions is discussed. Next, diverse performance indices are described. Finally, some avenues to be explored are shown. The work has been motivated by the realization that a significant number of papers in the scientific literature concern only standard performance index. Therefore, we focus our attention on non-standard performance indices that can be suitable for use in modern design techniques.
