In the paper, the relations between private and public areas of the individual's living space in the information age are presented. In such an environment, besides a private space of dwelling and a public space of urban neighbourhood, the third type of space is present. It is the space built by the information within the information networks called by Manuel Castells ,,spacc of flows". It poses a kind of interface between the long-established two living spaces causing the fundamental change in their relations. At present they are visible in the form and order of both: the whole town districts and the dwelling itself. The architectural solutions for that problem could be divided into two main streams: 1) urban spaces where the neonomads - ,,strangcrs" cohabitatc (Z. Bauman), 2) as well as multifunctional housing far more conductive to creation and growth of community. In both cases the borders between different functions and functional spaces are blurred. The line between the private and public, local and global, familiar and strange is even thinner if present at all.
