Problematyka: Tematem artykułu jest historia i adaptacja Domu Przedpogrzebowego w Gliwicach autorstwa wiedeńskiego architekta Maxa Fleischera na nową filię Muzeum Miejskiego – Dom Pamięci Żydów Górnośląskich. Metody: Autorka wykorzystała następujące metody badawcze: badania in situ, analizę literaturową z uwzględnieniem założeń projektowych przebudowy obiektu, wywiady z pracownikami Muzeum Miejskiego w Gliwicach. Wyniki: Na podstawie przeprowadzonych analiz pokazano historię obiektu i jego wartość kulturową na tle dorobku architektonicznego Maxa Fleischera. Ponadto zaprezentowano proces renowacji obiektu uwzględniający zmiany architektoniczne oraz prace konserwatorskie. Wnioski: Adaptacja ta, wykonana z ogromnym pietyzmem oraz poszanowaniem dziedzictwa kulturowego, jednak nie bez problemów finansowych, przywróciła dawną świetność obiektu. Aktualnie obiekt może stanowić wzór dla innych tego typu obiektów w naszym kraju

Problem statement: The theme of the article is the history and the adaptation of the pre-funeral house in Gliwice designed by Viennese architect Max Fleischer for a new branch of the City Museum - Upper Silesian Jews House of Remembrance. Methods: The author used the following research methods: researches in situ, analysis of the literature including the design of rebuilding assumptions, interviews with employees of the City Museum in Gliwice. Results: On the basis of the analyzes - the history of the object and its cultural value against the background of the architectural achievements of Max Fleischer was shown. Moreover, it presented the process of renovation of this property with the architectural changes and restoration works. Conclusions: This adaptation, performed with great reverence and respect for cultural heritage, but not without financial problems, restored the building to its former glory. Currently, the object can be a model for other facilities of this type in our country.
