The article contains basic information on theoretical, legal and educational issues concerning human rights and freedoms in the conditions of military service in Poland. In the first part the author presents elementary categories of problems under discussion and respective international and national regulations and standards. The further part of the article deals with presenting specific legal conditions of rights and freedoms functioning for soldiers in active military service (for professional cadre, conscripts and military academies and universities students). Apart from a catalogue of limitations and restrictions connected with military service, there have been mentioned a list of powers, privileges and personal, political, economic, social and cultural rights that soldiers deserve. The further part of the article includes the latest empirical data (results of sociological research, a fragment of ombudsman’s report presenting complying with rights and freedom of soldiers in military service in practice). The final part of the article includes basic information on information and education system concerning human rights and freedoms issue.
