The article describes a new technology used in wet pressing tissue paper. Extended nip press i.e. Advantage ViscoNip, PrimePress XT Evo and NipcoFlex T are presented. The main benefits of extended nip presses for tissue applications are the potential for higher after-press dryness so helps tissue makers to remarkably reduce energy consumption. New extended nip presses achieve a far sheet bulk than conventional pressing. All presses have the edge control system. In the edge area the local lineload can be controlled and the optimum press nip can be set. This results in a more uniform cross directional dryness profile and sheet adhesion to the Yankee surface.
