The paper provides performance evaluation of accumulation areas at intersections with the central island (roundabouts). Three intersections in the city of Warsaw, Poland, were selected for this evaluation - Rondo Jazdy Polskiej, Rondo Romana Dmowskiego and the crossroad of Toruńska and Labiszynska. These three intersections represent distinct traffic layouts. Two types of measurements were carried out for the evaluation. One type measured usage levels of individual traffic lines within accumulation area. The other type measured time needed to empty accumulation area off the vehicles waltingto make a left turn. The conclusions drawn based on these measurements results show the relationship between Intersection traffic layouts and usage of accumulation areas.

W artykule dokonano oceny funkcjonowania powierzchni akumulacyjnych na skrzyżowaniach z wyspą centralną. Do badań wybrano trzy skrzyżowania znajdujące się na terenie miasta Warszawa (Rondo Jazdy Polskiej, Rondo Romana Dmowskiego, skrzyżowanie ulic Toruńska - Łabiszyńska). Obiekty te wybrano ze względu na różne, zastosowane na nich, rozwiązania z zakresu organizacji ruchu. W celu dokonania oceny funkcjonowania powierzchni akumulacyjnych zostały wykonane dwa rodzaje pomiarów. Pierwszy pomiar dotyczył zajętości poszczególnych pasów ruchu. Drugi pomiar obejmował wyznaczenie czasu rozładowania kolejki pojazdów oczekujących na skręt w lewo. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych pomiarów sformułowano wnioski, jak zastosowanie różnych organizacji ruchu na skrzyżowaniu wpływa na wykorzystanie zatok akumulacyjnych.
