Methods of efficiency enhancement of supercritical fossil power units by the recovery of waste heat from the boiler exhaust gases

In the paper the diverse methods of heat recovery from the fossil boiler exhaust gases were analysed. A characteristic feature of these methods is the fact that they use low-temperature heat which is an exhaust loss. The following types of heat recovery from exhaust gases of hard- and brown coal fired boilers were considered: - heat water in the turbine system of heat recovery, - application of a small ORC unit together with the coal-fired unit, - drying of brown coal fed into the boiler. The goal of each of these methods is to increase the efficiency of the power unit. Efficiency enhancements depend on the proposed method, the variant and the type of fired fuel.

Kryterium oceny efektów ekologicznych współspalania biomasy z paliwami kopalnymi powinno być oparte na zmianie zużycia tych ostatnich liczonej na jednostkową ilość produktu użytecznego danego procesu. Uzyskane wyniki obliczeń symulacyjnych potwierdzają istnienie wpływu prowadzenia współspalania na sprawność energetyczną kotła i bloku. Niezależnie od ograniczeń procesu współspalania węgla i biomasy w dużych jednostkach wytwarzania energii elektrycznej należy podkreślić ewidentne korzyści środowiskowe i społeczne tego procesu.

An assessment criterion of ecological effects in the process of the biomass co-combustion with fossil fuels should be based on the consumption change of the last ones calculated for unit quantity of the useful product of given process. Achieved results of simulated calculations prove an existence of influence of the co-combustion process on the power boiler and power unit efficiency. Independently on limitations of the co-combustion of the bio-mass and coal in the great power units ecological and social profits of the process are evident.
