Distributed generation as efficient measure to improve power generation adequacy

The article concerns safety of power supply for the final consumers, especially its two comprising elements, which are generation adequacy and distribution system re- liability. Generation adequacy has been defined with Loss of Load Probability (LOLP), Loss of Load Expectation (LOLE) and Energy Not Supplied (ENS) indices. Conclusions from generation adequacy forecast prepared by ENSTO-E for Poland compared with other European countries for the years 2020 and 2025 have been discussed along with the resulting threats. Interruptions in energy supply have been characterised by power discontinuity indicator SAIDI. Finally, a reliability and adequacy analysis have been performed for different scenarios of the Polish power system operation in order to assess possibilities of using distributed generation as a backup power source. Based on a simulation model created using the DIgSILENT Power Factory software, the reliability and adequacy calculations have been performed with the probabilistic non-sequential Monte Carlo method and they are followed by a discussion of the obtained results.

This paper presents characteristics and purposefulness of supporting the renewable energy sources (OZE) by means of energy stores. The main emphasis was placed on analysis of virtual energy stores available for implementation in Polish economy conditions. A role which management of Demand Side Response (DSR) may play in balancing Polish electric power system, is discussed. Implementation of such solutions together with conventional energy stores may significantly influence power supply safety by assuring continuity of electric power supply at an acceptable price. Involvement of electric power consumers ( DSR ) should be one of the basic solutions for power markets in Poland and Europe.

W artykule przedstawiono charakterystykę najbardziej perspektywicznych złóż węgla brunatnego w Polsce oraz zaprezentowano możliwość ich zagospodarowania na potrzeby energetyki, przedstawiając jej rozwój w oparciu o to paliwo na okres 100-120 lat. Analiza dotyczy strategicznych złóż "Legnica" i "Gubin - Mosty" oraz "Złoczew", jako złoża satelitarnego Kopalni "Bełchatów" dającego perspektywy funkcjonowania Elektrowni do 2070 roku.

The paper characterizes the most promising Polish lignite deposits. It also presents the possibilities of using it for energy needs in the perspective of a 100-120 years. The study concerns such strategic deposits like "Legnica", "Gubin - Mosty" and "Złoczew". The last is the satellite deposit of "Bełchatów" Mine, making the prospect for Bełchatów Power Plant to be active until 2070.

W artykule przedstawiono branżę węgla brunatnego w Polsce na bazie czynnych kopalń oraz możliwości zaspokojenia potrzeb energetycznych kraju z uwzględnieniem czynników ekonomicznych i z zapewnieniem dostaw energii w oparciu o własne surowce energetyczne. Rozwój branży jest również alternatywą zapewnienia miejsc pracy dla tysięcy aktywnych zawodowo ludzi. Mottem przewodnim artykułu jest węgiel brunatny jako najtańsze paliwo będące na długie lata gwarantem bezpieczeństwa energetycznego, co w połączeniu z zapleczem naukowo--projektowym oraz produkcyjnym staje się optymalną ofertą dla polskiej energetyki.

The article presents the sector of brown coal in Poland on the basis of active mines. The capabilities to satisfy country energy demands, with use of own natural resources, take into consideration also economic factors and safely of energy supplies. Sector development secures alternative employment for thousands professionally active people as well. Lignite as the cheapest fuel, giving guarantee of energy safety for long years, is a leading motto of this paper. In connection with research and development, as well as production possibilities, it makes the optimum offer for Polish power industry.
