The operation of an autonomous movable objects, such as a sea transport vessels, implies the presence of a source of potential energy on board the vessel and the possibility of converting this energy into the work required for the autonomous movable object (vessel). Being an autonomous object, a transport vessel should be provided with energy for it moving, energy for heat exchange processes on board and electricity for powering electrical equipment, automation and navigation systems, and household needs on board. An analysis of the component of the engine room equipment made it possible to designate (combine) the generating equipment of mechanical energy flow, equipment which are generating the heat energy flow and equipment which are generating the electric energy flow. Based on the results of the research the relationships between the energy flows are identified connections and ways to ensure stabilization of energy generation on board the cargo vessel is outlined. Using the results of the research the relationships between the energy flows will reduce the likelihood of accidents on board a cargo vessel due to a stop in the generation of one of the energy flows and thereby ensure increased safety of man at sea. Taking into account the peculiarities of the distribution of energy flows in ship power plants can be an effective tool not only to improve the economic performance of it, but also to increase the safety of navigation and navigation in general, due to the reliable provision of uninterrupted and efficient operation of ship power plants.

This study addresses the problem of training the officers, which are assigned to an electrical-driven vessels equipped with azimuth thrusters. A pair of omnidirectional thrusters in combination with power plant system containing several diesel generators imply a potential for a variety of different emergency scenarios, which also includes partial or full loss of control or blackout. These fault scenarios were classified in the article with predefined risk levels depending on the area, time limitation, mode of operation and fault itself. Mutual responsibilities and action algorithms for bridge and engine teams in a step-by-step manner have been developed for each scenario. Personnel behavioral differences in both expected and unexpected emergencies have also been studied.

This article discusses the possibility of burning wood biomass instead of fossil fuels in boilers. It describes the properties of wood biomass, including the variation of its calorific value depending on the moisture content of wood. The article proposes several variants of a combined heat and power plant (CHP) system burning wood biomass for the generation of electric and heat energy, using the energy contained in exhaust gases for drying wood biomass.

W referacie omówiono genezę i rozwój układów napędowych statków do przewozu skroplonych gazów. Jednym z ważniejszych problemów eksploatacyjnych wpływających na koszty transportu gazu naturalnego w postaci skroplonej jest jego częściowe odparowywanie. Możliwe jest wykorzystanie odparowującego gazu do napędu statku lub też jego ponowne skraplanie co minimalizuje straty. Z tego względu główny akcent położono na układy napędowe statków do prze-wozu skroplonego gazu naturalnego. Pokazano wyniki analizy porównawczej sprawności energetycznych wybranych układów napędowych. Przedstawiono układ energetyczny z kotłem fluidalnym na węgiel, który może być brany pod uwagę w warunkach ograniczonego dostępu do paliwa produkowanego z ropy naftowej jako jedno z rozwiązań alternatywnych.

This paper outlines the genesis and developments of propulsion systems of ships for carrying liquidized gases. One of the most exploitation problems with effect on transportation costs of natural gas in liquid form is its partially vaporization. It is possible to use the boiled gas for ship propulsion or its reliquidation what minimize the loses. With respect on this, main accent are put on ship propulsion system for carrying liquid natural gas. Results of comparative analysis of power efficiency of chosen ship propulsion systems have been shown. The power system with coal fluidized bed boiler as an alternative solution, which can be taken in to accounts in limited approach to fuel produced from crude oil are shown.
