Modeling of four electrode measuring system for determination the resistivity of thin antistatic coatings

In the paper, the mathematic model for determine the resistivity of thin antistatic coating was presented. The model based on four-points method and method of images. In the model, the parameters of measuring system and coating was described. It depend on thickness of the coating and the relative permeability of the bulk.

W artykule opisano model matematyczny do wyznaczania rezystancji cienkich warstw antyelektrostatycznych. Model opiera się na metodach czteropunktowej oraz odbić zwierciadlanych. Wyznaczony limit rozmiaru układu - odstępu pomiędzy elektrodami pomiarowymi uzależniony jest od grubości warstwy i stosunku rezystywności warstwy/podłoże.

Artykuł prezentuje wybrane metody badań własności rezystancyjnych powłok antyelektrostatycznych. Omówiono ich przydatność w warunkach przemysłowych. Wyszczególniono wady i zalety zaprezentowanych metod. Zaproponowano system pomiarowo-diagnostyczny, który pozwalałby na wykorzystanie potencjału pomiarowego omówionych metod przy jednoczesnej minimalizacji ich wad. Wskazano potrzebę oszacowania oraz kontroli rezystancji skrośnej i powierzchniowej warstw antyelektrostatycznych jako wykorzystywaną w celach normalizacji oraz spełnienia parametrów jakościowych i ekonomicznych.

The paper presents selected research methods resistive properties of anti-static layers. Typical applications of anti-static layers, and the threat posed by static discharge are described. Discusses the usefulness in industrial conditions, and detailed the advantages and disadvantages presented methods. In chapter 3 discusses the method suggested in the Polish Standards [1], fig. 2; four-probe method, fig. 3; van der Pauw'a method [6] fig. 4; comparative method, with a capacity of capacitor [4], and eddy currents [8]. As the main disadvantage of these methods are given the possibility of measuring only in specialized laboratories in the prepared samples. In section 3.6 the author suggests the creation of control and measurement systems to enable testing under operating conditions the object coated anti-static layers. More than a system would enable to carry out measurements on samples of irregular shape. The aim of the development of that system is to simplify the measurement techniques for antistatic coatings, while maintaining the required accuracy, making possible the appropriate selection of coating components and simultaneously lowering its prices.

Zagadnienie bezpieczeństwa pracy i eksploatacji urządzeń w obiektach zagrożonych wybuchem, stwarzają szereg problemów związanych z wyładowaniami elektrostatycznymi. Powstający, w wyniku indukcji w polu elektrostatycznym lub wykonywania czynności o charakterze dynamicznym, ładunek elektryczny w środowisku łatwopalnym może prowadzić do powstania niebezpiecznego dla życia, zdrowia i mienia wybuchu. W artykule zaprezentowano metody badań własności antystatycznych farb i powłok. W PN istnieją zalecane metody pomiarowe takich badań. Ze względu na stosunkowo dużą niepewność pomiarową zaproponowano wstępny system pomiarowo-diagnostyczny pozwalający na weryfikacje właściwości antystatycznych farb i powłok w miejscu ich zastosowania( in-situ).

The issues of work safety and exploitation of devices in explosion - endangered zones create a number of problems related to electrostatic discharges. The electric charge, inducted in electrostatic field or as the result of dynamic activities in the inflammable environment may lead to explosions, witch are dangerous for life, health and belongings. In the paper the results of research on antistatic properties of paints and coatings have been presented. There are some recommended measurement methods for this kind of research in the Polish norms. Taking into account the relatively high measurement uncertainty, a preliminary measurement - diagnostic setup, allowing for in-situ verification of antistatic properties of paint and coatings was proposed .
