Na obszarze Geoparku Przedgórze Sudeckie znajdują się liczne wyrobiska dawnych kamieniołomów, stanowiące pozostałość po prowadzonej od wieków odkrywkowej działalności górniczej. W powszechnym odczuciu odbierane są jako miejsca niebezpieczne oraz wpływające negatywnie na środowisko i krajobraz. Podjęcie działań związanych z zagospodarowaniem geoturystycznym takich obiektów może umożliwić zarówno wykorzystanie ich potencjału naukowego, edukacyjnego i rekreacyjnego, jak i wpłynąć na integrację lokalnych społeczności.

In the area of the Sudetic Foreland Geopark there are numerous abandoned quarries, which are remnants of mining activities conducted for centuries. They are generally perceived as dangerous and negatively influencing the environment and landscape. Undertaking activities related to the geotourist development of such objects may enable both the use of their scientific, educational and recreational potential and affect the integration of local communities.

The paper presents an analysis of adaptation directions and evaluation of post-mining objects developed for touristic purposes. The topics under consideration have been: needs, possibilities and conditions for protection of mining heritage objects, their adaptation to fulfil functions other than they were designed for, and building regional touristic products on their base. The topic of this paper has been presented using example of six objects which are used in this way. These are old underground mines adapted for touristic purposes of Lower and Upper Silesia. The chosen objects are recognised nationwide as post-mining objects. They have been functioning already for several years as post-industrial touristic objects and range of their use has given the possibility for comparative analysis. The research has resulted in distinguishing factors that affect how the object is perceived by tourists – both positively and negatively. The factors can classify the objects as a place to visit and as a place to come back in the future. Basing on the research it can be concluded, that analysed post-mining objects from territory of Poland are very similar in the way they are adapted. There is no significant difference between them and no evidence for searching other, unusual methods of presentation as it happens abroad. Finally, recommendations for adapting post-mining objects for touristic purposes were developed.

Artykuł prezentuje historię i pozostałości dawnych robót górniczych w okolicach Bystrzycy Górnej w Górach Sowich. Przedstawiono 500 lat historii poszukiwań i eksploatacji zlokalizowanego tam złoża polimetalicznego. W oparciu o wyniki kwerendy archiwalnej oraz przeprowadzonych na obszarze dawnych robót prac badawczo-inwentaryzacyjnych zlokalizowano poszczególne zespoły historycznych wyrobisk, znane w literaturze przedmiotu pod różnymi nazwami. Przedstawiono możliwości wykorzystania pozostałości dawnych robót górniczych jako atrakcji turystycznej.

The article describes the outline of the history and the remains of mining in the area of Bystrzyca Górna (Sowie Mountains). History of 500 years polimetalic ore exploration and mining is described. The author attempt, on the basis of extant archival sources, nineteenth-century studies the history of mining in Silesia, and based on field research, systematize knowledge about the location and naming of the former metal ore mines in the area. Possibility of the further touristic using are also discussed.
