For reliable operation and sufficiency long times of traveling wave tubes severe requirements on vacuum conditions have to be fulfiled - very low degassing and leaking rates. To obtain and control of vacuum condition the miniature ion pumps are used: fitting with the tube integrally or pinched off after the tube starting and testing. Two types of small ion pumps designed in PIT OW especially for TWT-s are presented: - Noble gas diode Lamont type for vacuum treatment ot TWT-s - Magnetron type ion pump integrally connected with collector.

The small size pumps are used in the evacuation systems mainly for electron device and as a detector. The design and properties of two versions diode ion pumps are described. The first one, PJ-2N is designed to work at the low magnetic field in the range 600-800 Gs and the anode voltage of 3-5 kV. The second pump PJ-2 is equipped with differential Ti/Ta cathodes and magnet with magnetic firld anout 1200 Gs.

Opisano małogabarytowe pompy jonowe przeznaczone do wytwarzania i pomiaru próżni w niewielkich obiektach próżniowych (np. lampach mikrofalowych). PJ2-N może pracować z polem magnetycznym o natężeniu 600-800 Gs. PJ-2 wyposażona jest w katody różnicowe Ti-Ta i pracuje z polem magnetycznym o natężeniu 1200 Gs. Napięcie anodowe obydwu pomp 3-5 kV.

The first one, PJ-2N is designed to work at the low magnetic field in the range 600-800Gs and at the anode voltage of 3-5 kV. The second pump P--2 is equipped with differential Ti-Ta cathodes and magnet with magnetic field of about 1200 Gs.

New design of two ion sorption pumps PJ-50 and PJ-400 is presented. The pumps were constructed basing on literature data, computer simulation of discharge processes chamber parameters, and our experimental results. PJ-50 set consists of two anode-cathode packages consisting of anode cells of different diameter (23 mm, 18 mm and 15 mm). PJ-400 set consists of eight packages, which contain 23 mm and 18 mm diameter cells. Cathodes are made of titanium and tantalum while anodes are of ss304. Presented pumps are equipped optionally with NEG getters, as well as titanium sublimation cartridge with cryogenic shroud. Results of investigations show the ultimate pressures in the 10-9 Pa range and nitrogen pumping speeds 70 dm3/s and 420 dm3/s. Argon pumping speeds are 40 dm3/s and 250 dm3/s for the PJ-50 and PJ-400 pumps respectively.
