The conditions of tri(hydroxybutyl)borate (BTHB) preparation from boric acid and 1,4-butanedio1 and its identification have been presented in this paper. Its effect on the flammability, mechanic properties, softening temperature and thermal resistance of the rigid polyurethane --polyisocyanurate foams obtained from Ongromat CR 30-20 has been studied. It was found that the introduction of BTHB caused the decrease of the flammability, brittleness and thermal resistance, whereas the compressive strength of foams increased .
