Objectives: The purpose of this article is to present the state of the railway infrastructure in relation to the possibility of using it for the transport of tracked vehicles. It analyses the rolling stock available to the armed forces and the procedures for carrying out military transport by rail. Methods: The research method used in this study consists of a review of the literature dealing with the implementation of military transport by rail. Based on the available data and literature, the state of the rail infrastructure in relation to its use for rail transport and the procedures for implementing military transport by rail are presented. Results: The analysis of the documents made it possible to identify and characterise the state of the railway infrastructure and the directions for its modernisation and development. The article presents rail freight corridors that are particularly important from a defence point of view. Conclusions: Poland's rail infrastructure is designed for non-military and military purposes. Rail transport is particularly important for the long-distance movement of tracked vehicles. In order to ensure the efficient transport of military equipment in times of crisis and conflict, the Armed Forces constantly carry out peacetime exercises. During the preparation and execution of military rail transport, procedures and activities of interaction with civil authorities are practised. The railway infrastructure is constantly modernised and adapted to the transport of passengers and goods, taking into account the security conditions of the state and the expected support of the allies.

W artykule omówiony został problem w identyfikacji towarowych grup wagonowych w punkcie zmiany szerokości torów w zintegrowanych łańcuchach transportowych. Przedstawiony model opisuje sytuację w identyfikowaniu jednostek transportowych zlokalizowanych na infrastrukturze kolejowej z wyszczególnieniem ich parametrów technicznych.

This article discusses the issue of identifying freight carriage groups at the point of changing track width In integrated transport chains. The presented model describes the situation in identifying transport units located on the railway infrastructure, specifying their technical parameters.

W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję unowocześnienia infrastruktury dydaktycznej i badawczej Zakładu Infrastruktury Transportu, Wydziału Transportu Politechniki Warszawskiej. Przedstawiono wybrane możliwości aplikacji komputerowych InRoads i InRail przy projektowaniu infrastruktury liniowej i punktowej. Koncepcja infrastruktury badawczej obejmuje stworzenie zaplecza laboratoryjnego umożliwiającego pomiar eksploatacyjnego zużycia elementów nawierzchni kolejoweji pojazdów szynowych. Podstawowym wyposażeniem laboratorium będą następujące narzędzia pomiarowe: toromierz cyfrowy do pomiaru toru i rozjazdów, profilomierz X-Y do szyn i rozjazdów, profilomierz elektroniczny do kół kolejowych i tramwajowych.

This paper presents the concept of modernization of teaching and research infrastructure of Transport Infrastructure Department, at Faculty of Transport of Warsaw University of Technology. Selected options of software applications InRoads and InRail design linear and point elements infrastructure were presented. The concept of creating a research infrastructure includes laboratory facilities that enable measurement of operating fatigue and wear of superstructure and rail vehicles elements. The basic laboratory equipment are measuring tools as follows digital track measuring(trolley for tracks and turnouts, X-Y measuring device for switch and rail profiles, A-B measuring device for wheel profiles of railway and tram vehicles.
