Na świecie znajduje się w eksploatacji wiele instalacji do indukcyjnego topienia i przetrzymywania metalu. Podział czasu (Timeshare) i podział mocy (Powershare) obie koncepcje zostały wdrożone w latach dziewięćdziesiątych. Posiadają one określone zalety szczególnie gdy wymagana jest elastyczność przy ciągłym lub półciągłym zaopatrywaniu w ciekły metal. Bardzo ważnym jest żeby urządzenia do topienia indukcyjnego były dokładnie dobrane pod względem zapotrzebowania odlewni na metal. There are a number of operational approaches to batch induction melting (and holding). Timeshare and Powershare are both concepts that have been introduced during the 1990’s. These do offer certain advantages particularly where flexibility or a continuous or semi-continuous supply of molten metal is needed. It is very important that induction-melting equipment is properly matched to the metal requirements of the foundry. An understanding of the characteristics of different melting systems is therefore very important. The purpose of this presentation is first to review earlier operational approaches, highlighting their principal characteristics and to then review the Timeshare and Powershare types of induction furnaces systems. With Timeshare a single induction power source is used to deliver power on a time cycle basis to two or more furnaces. Control is achieved using a PLC System. This system is considered as an improvement on the Butterfly Melter. It reduces operator intervention, assisting with accurate temperature control. With Powershare a single induction power source is used to deliver power simultaneously to a number of furnaces. This is an extremely flexible melting (and holding) system.
